I have to say I am firmly on the sort by form side. It may be because I don't
have as many pieces as many of you guys, but once mine are sorted into the
kind of part they are, it is very easy for the eye to pick out the color I
want. If all of mine were sorted into colors, then it would be hard to find
the peice I want- all one color makes the different peices so much "noise"
Looking at a bin full of 1x1 bricks, for example, in different colors, is
better for me since I can easily see the color I want and grab it.

It's an interesting point you have made with seeing the colour you want. I sort basic bricks by colour and everything else by form. The reason that I sort basic bricks by colour is because I don't look at them, so seeing the colour doesn't work. I (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

...after almost a year of sorting by form and functionality. That's more than 30,000 Lego pieces, sorted by color into about a dozen plastic drawers measuring roughly 11 x 13 x 3 inches. (1) Oh no! It's so hard to find The-Piece-I-Need now! (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)
