Ugh, sorting by colour. -_-; I've got all my bricks sorted by colour,
I have both halves of the Futuron monorail set filled with black and
grey bricks. Both halves of the second Model Team semi filled with
yellow and white bricks. Another two boxes for red, another two for
blue, and I usually through green and brown in with the red. I have
another 30 dollar set sized box for "rare" pieces and another for
minifigs. The problem with that is that I've got so many pieces that
are printed or are rare that it's near impossible to find them in the
"rare" box.
I find that this method of sorting (which took me and my mom, oh, a
good week to sort out, and that was before my '89 expansion that
nearly doubled my sets), well, getting back on track, I find that this
works better for MOCs but the instant you want to build all the
official models just to see what pieces you're missing, well, basing
this on experience, you can expect each step to take anywhere from
five minutes to two hours. It can get really irritating at times, and
when you legs like to cramp easily, well, those two hour steps are not
a good thing.
Kya - who is currently not looking forward to resorting out the big
box with the coloured boxes stacked on top of each other that managed
to get tipped sideways there by mixing the parts

| ...after almost a year of sorting by form and functionality. That's more than 30,000 Lego pieces, sorted by color into about a dozen plastic drawers measuring roughly 11 x 13 x 3 inches. (1) Oh no! It's so hard to find The-Piece-I-Need now! (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)
