Deborah (and others)

I made this offer awhile ago but had no takers - what the heck, I’ll make it again here.

If anyone has “wish list” parts they’d like to use in MLCAD but doesn’t necessarily know how to author dat files, there’s another way to go. I can have my CAD class model them in “regular” CAD software and then attempt to convert them to dat.

First you must be able to provide me with:

a) CLEAR (to non AFOL) descriptions/dimensions and or b) LDraw files of parts that the new parts are based on

I will then assign them to be modeled by my CAD students in AutoCAD, 3DS, or SolidWorks.

From there it gets a little tricky... ;^)

I can take the resulting .dwg, .3ds, .stl or .dxf file and use one of the various converters to make it into a .dat file. From there you can use it in MLCAD.

BUT - here’s the messy part - there will be no conditional lines or primitives, unless someone more familiar with LDraw decides to clean them up. Some parts would probably clean up very easily, but I don’t know how to do this. If you don’t mind this handicap (for example you just want to show how they could be used with other parts) the parts will work fine in MLCAD.

If you would like me to try to model these parts, send me an email (try to put LEGO in the subject heading so I don’t delete it by accident). Or reply on this forum and we can work something out. Deborah’s parts don’t look very hard to model at all.
