The stud notches pretty much peg it as a 2x2.

or something that fits on top of a 1x1 tile, if the scale is unclear.

Youre thinking too hard and not looking at all of the evidence.
|
Id say, given that you posted such a detailed analysis of all the parts,
with a running point by point commentary, that youre the one thinking too
hard, but thats just me.
I think a better approach than analysing in depth is to just ask the
originator what she had in mind. Which is what I was doing and having a good
time with, actually.

Its the
only part in the entire list thats upside-down, so there must be something
significant to the bottom. You can also see the stud on the top peeking
out, which is way undersized for something thats designed to fit down over
a 1x1 tile and lock on with those notches. Most importantly, why would
someone want a dome top that can only clips over a 1x1 tile, plate, or
brick?

Its not my wishlist, nor is it necessarily billed as a generic one, its a
particular persons wishlist. So I couldnt say why, not being that person.
But who cares? I merely asked questions (to show my interest

because I think she did a neat thing) without a rush to
judgement about what sorts of parts are good and what sort arent.
|
judgement is what human natures all about. just content that someone looked at
the pieces and got out of them what he/she needed/wanted.
