  Eolus-Series Business Craft

Hi everyone, One of the largest ships I've built so far, I present the Eolus Series, from Starbound Industries: (URL) The Eolus is a bizjet, however the Eolus is intended primarily for space travel. It is ill-suited to the transition from atmosphere (...) (20 years ago, 16-Aug-04, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

Stefan, I really like the overall form of this spacecraft. It's very smooth and curvy, which is nice to see in .Space MOCs. A few comments: 1) Could you try to redirect some of the lighting in your renderings? Right now, some of the pics are a bit (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) A result of my inexperience with Pov-Ray, I'm afraid. I'll see what I can do with the Pov light sources in Ldraw. (...) What do vernier thrusters look like? Are they the little ones on the nose of the shuttle? I couldn't find any pics. (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) I perfectly understand; getting renderings to come out right is tricky. You know what might be a nice stop-gap measure for you? (URL) LDview>, which allows you to take .PNG pics of your model at any angle, with adequate lighting. Here's a (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) snippage (...) I definitely recommend LDView for these sorts of things if POV-Ray isn't doing it for you. The lighting is pretty direct, and you change your viewing angle just by dragging the model around in the window. You don't have to deal (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Actually what I did for the interior photos. I can't punch my FSAA up like you can, but I did set the other stuff to what you recommended. <snippage> (...) I'll have to find a way to work them in. (...) <snippage> (...) Yeah, touching, isn't (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) I'll have to go find that book, then. (...) Yeah, except wait, I forgot a galley... Thanks for the compliments! -Stefan- (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) I really like this, but I'd like to see more of it. Any chance of posting the CAD file to the brickshelf folder? I can probably help out with some rendering settings too if I have the file to play with. As for the model - I approve of the (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Yeah, the FSAA only works on some video cards. Since he said 6X, we now all know he has an ATI video card ;-). (ATI is the only manufacture I know of that supports 6X FSAA.) You can get a similar effect to 4X FSAA by simply saving your (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Nice image. It looks like you also have Geometry->Seam Width checked (although it's hard to tell for sure). I think that when edge lines are turned on, Seam Width tends to just lead to extra noise in the image. On a side note, the Subdued (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

In lugnet.space, Stefan Garcia wrote: snip (...) I got a chance to ride on a corporate jet once, and I don't recall that they had a real complete galley, but there was a fridge. The pilots had a couple pizzas and a sandwhich tray delivered before (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Hey Travis, (...) I'll play around with it some your program some more and try that. BTW, I'm using version 2.1, the one that comes with that all-encompassing LDraw installer. (...) Yes, I had to use the old version of part 464 so that's why (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Its a very sleek vessel, and looks like a natural evolution from modern planes to space faring planes. Here's a stupid question: Are the pods on the wings life boats or fuel tanks? -Avery (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Not a stupid question at all: they're the engines, the nozzles are just really small trans-dkblue 1x1x1 rounds embedded into the back of the pods (a design scheme it shares with my other Tuerinoman ships). The fuel tanks would supposedly be in (...) (20 years ago, 19-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) I have an ATI card as well, it's just a 9000. I play Halo on it though, the poor thing... (...) Wow, resolutions that high just aren't right! :^) I'll have to experiment with that. (...) Thanks for the compliments! (...) Your program is (...) (20 years ago, 19-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Interesting. The last time I was on a Lear, it was the trip back from Panama I believe, so I don't really remember much (I was 5 or so, I think). The wing shape was actually inspired by a Kushan light corvette from the game Homeworld, though I (...) (20 years ago, 19-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Thanks for the compliments! The trick in having a good smooth ship now is having a lot of hidden and subtle surface features, it seems. I couldn't get a good ortho view, but I did upload the cad file: (URL) -Stefan- (20 years ago, 19-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Eolus-Series Business Craft

(...) Bear in mind, a 9999x9999 snapshot will suck up just under 300MB of RAM while it's being created, so unless you have AT LEAST 512MB, I'd keep it lower. I probably could have worked things out so that the image didn't have to all be in memory (...) (20 years ago, 19-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)
