Consistency: if people aren't permitted to make eBay announcements on
BST, why should they be permitted to make BrickBay announcements?
After all, both have their own .market.* groups.

eBay announcements don't belong in .BST because they are auctions, not
because they are on eBay.  This point, atleast, has been cleared up by Todd
many times in the past.

I would phrase that differently: eBay announcements don't belong in
.BST because there is a special .auctions group for them.  By the same
logic, BrickBay announcements don't belong in .BST because there is a
special .brickshops group for *them*.

As for their own market groups, I have yet to see .market.eBay or
.market.Brickbay, so i'm not entirely sure what you are refering to.
Unless, of course, you are determining .auction to be eBay only and
.Brickshops to be Brickbay only, which I believe would be an incorrect thing
to do.

Of course .auction is not strictly for eBay, nor .brickshops for
Brickbay, but in reality the vast majority of all auctions are on eBay
and the vast majority of all brickshops are Brickbay shops.

Just what posts belong in .brickshops has been discussed before with no
official conclusion:

The way I, and some others, interpret the charter of .brickshops is that it is
for discusion of brickshops (*mentioned* in the charter) and not for
sales(*not* mentioned in the charter).I especially feel this way for a few
reasons.

1) .brickshops came to be during a time when BB was having some big downtime
problems and there was alot of off topic BB discussions in .b.s.t.

2)The word "sale" or anything like it, is not included in the .brickshops
charter.

When Todd answered the question about MOCs being in announce, he said this:

"lugnet.announce was never intended for announcements of new (especially
updates to) MOCs...otherwise the charter would say so."

http://news.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=9908

Following that line of thinking (but not trying to put words in Todd's mouth),
substitute a few words.

Try substituting:
"lugnet.brickshops" for "lugnet.announce"
"shop sale info" for "announcements of new (especially updates to) MOCs"

It seems like a simple fix to me. Either include in the .brickshops charter
something along the lines of "this is the place to post sale info regarding
your shop" or "please post sales info to buy.sell.trade".

I cross posted and set the follow up for lugnet.admin.terms.
