Over the past few days, in at least two groups (.db.inv and .market.theory), I've noticed that when I leave messages undeleted, but read (that is, not flagged "new" by Pine) and then come back to the group later, they are flagged as "new". Bryan's right; it was a user error on my part. I had right-clicked on each news group and selected 'Catch Up', which acted as if I had once downloaded and later deleted all postings. By right-clicking on the newsgroup, selecting 'Properties' and (...) (24 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

I just tried it out, and clicking the toolbar button repeatedly downloads the next # headers. I download over 2000 (300 per click) before I stopped trying it. What is the exact protocol of message exchange between these two groups? Based on the nature of some threads, it seems that lugnet.robotics receives the messages from lego-robotics, but not vice-versa. This seems to have, on many occasions, resulted (...)
