Okie dokie then, I'll throw the switch and make it go. You could re-post
this week's specials there if you wanted to test it, once it's up.

OK. Now here's the pedantic/esoteric hidden-question: Which one of those
two alternatives do you think makes the most sense?
Do you want to have it on record that (second alternative) the threads you
post there were all rooted in the .shopping group and the announcements just
happened to be echoed into the .announce.lsahs group (that's the second
alternative), or that (first alternative) the postings you make there are
rooted squarely the .announce.lsahs group, with the discussions just
happening to be spin-offs that happen in the .shopping group? Depends on
how you view the resource.
The only difference in terms of how the data is archived is which ng later
shows up in the URL when you click on an article in a thread -- for example,
both of the following URLs take you to the same article:
http://www.lugnet.com/news/display.cgi?lugnet.general:1981
http://www.lugnet.com/news/display.cgi?lugnet.admin.general:771
but since lugnet.general was listed first in the 'Newsgroups' header, the
first one is the one that gets used for indexing and linking purposes when
you're browsing the archive.
In other words, it's just a matter of which ng you want people to get popped
into by default when they click up an old article via the web interface...
In any case, whichever of the two orderings that you choose, it's probably
good to be consistent from week to week.

| (...) Hrmmm, I think it makes more sense to me to have the post originate in the .shopping group but get echoed to the .announce.lsahs group. The .announce.lsahs group, imo, is a matter of convenience for people who want to drop in (or have it drop (...) (26 years ago, 17-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
