I've been finding myself a bit overwhelmed by the LUGNET newsgroups lately. It seems like every day there are announcements for new subgroups and discussion categories. I understand why these are important, and that it is nice to be able to read two (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general) !!

You forgot to mention that you set the followups to lugnet.general - just so that anyone else replying to the original doesn't wonder where their post got to :) (URL) Actually, it is too easy to do that I think - in addition to crosspost (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Yet another good point. Even though I was trying to be careful, I made an easy mistake that demonstrates the danger of our current pidgeonholing scheme that winds up only confusing people. (...) while this is a workaround and not a solution to the problem you're pointing out, is to read lugnet either with NNTP or through the news-by-mail. Both will only show you a message once, no matter how many groups it's crossposted to. :) Dan (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

For example, I just checked MSOE v4.72 and could not locate any settings to exclude cross-posted messages--have looked for this a few times before, too. My alternate newsreader, (...) (...) It doesn't send you multiple copies of crossposted articles via e-mail. It's smart enough to know that if you're subscribed to both A and B, and someone crossposts to both A and B, to send you only one copy rather than two. (Of course in (...)
