I imagine that when Todd gets around to making the web site able to keep
track of which messages you've read, this feature will be available there
too. But I don't think that's going to be available for a while. :(

I think it already does that - if you rate a message, it'll appear as
rated by you in all the groups it's been crossposted to (with the little
red arrow by the rating)...  So all you need to do it rate each message
you read ;)

Another alternative for keeping messages marked as READ using web interface
is to set the history file setting for a longer amount of time.  I have mine
in Netscape  set at 80 days.  I do go into the History file and manually
remove items leaving Lugnet page hits alone and anything else I wish to save
info for (like Ebay).

This idea works for me, but I do 90% of my Lugnet reading from home on a
single computer.  Users of multiple machines will not find this very
helpful.  The idea of rating everything you read may be the only alternative
at this point in time for people in those situations who wish to use the web
interface.

(...) Yes, this is exactly why I don't see that as an option. I regularly read lugnet from three different systems, and infrequently from others. (25 years ago, 23-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Which, if I understand correctly, is no longer available, since you can't rate "No Opinion" any more. ++Lar (25 years ago, 23-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
