    Newsgroups for LUGs? —Tim Courtney
I have an idea (which may or may not have been thought of, posted before) that I feel would greatly aid LUGs and their members. Could LUGNET add newsgroups for all the LUGs who want them and have them automagically crosspost to the regional groups (...)      (...) I like this idea as well, and had thought of it. I agree, it is a great idea. Oh, and I like that new word,"automagically" :) Ryan (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

Re: Newsgroups for LUGs? —Richard Franks
(...) One problem that I see with that is then people on those loc-groups who don't want to see org-info get it anyway, and threads are spread over multiple groups messily. I think the newsgroups for LUGs idea is cool though :) Richard (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

Re: Newsgroups for LUGs? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) And one that I (really!) would not like to see implemented, for two reasons. 1. automatic crossposting is, in general, a bad idea, as has been discussed here at length before. Too easy to get unintended results, too hard to maintain the (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

Re: Newsgroups for LUGs? —Tim Courtney
(...) Ok, but AFAIK there aren't any lug newsgroups right now. There should at least be newsgroups for LUGs and LTCs made under the appropriate heirarchy. lugnet.org.us.gmltc lugnet.org.us.gmlug lugnet.org.us.nelug lugnet.org.us.wamalug etc... -Tim (...)    (...) Agreed... IF the groups want them. PNLTC at one point I think was asked and declined. A wrinkle, though... There's the current lugnet.trains.org already in existence. would a putative bayltc (bayltc is just forming, and may or may not remain (...)         Re: Newsgroups for LUGs? —Eric Kingsley
(...) I know when this first came up I said that I would love one for NELUG and I still do. For now crossposting and the mailing-list work but a NELUG group would help consolidate things and it would not clutter all of the .loc groups with NELUG (...)          Re: Newsgroups for LUGs? —Richard Franks
(...) It's a bit of a pity, because although that structure allows you to have the NELUG base /org/us/nelug/ to contain all the individual group messages, it begins to start looking a little bit messy, especially when you have /org/us/nelug/ma/bos/ (...)      (...) Last week I e-mailed Todd asking if WAMALUG could have it's own group, but I haven't gotten a response yet.
