If we agree that a round-table is a discussion (or meeting) where
people talk in conditions of equality, then I like to think we should have
that in *every* group - not only “lugnet.admin.roundtable".

Yup, and it's *your* job to make it so.

I try my best.

(well, along with everyone else, of course)

I assume you and I can agree on that Larry?

Lord, I hope so.

If the purpose of "lugnet.admin.roundtable" is simply to discuss the
"direction" of LUGNET then I shall remain sceptical about what it will
achieve -

Well, I can tell you a couple things it'll achieve:

Greater liklihood of my sanity remaining intact, and better assurance that
I'll read all of admin.general every day -without- lowering my face into my
hands and slowly rocking back and forth.

I also think it'll create opportunity for some of our less venturesome
citizens to chime in or speak their mind. ...um ...this may come as a shock
to you, but, not everyone wants to be associated with your gang and their
methods. [duck]

especially if it takes the form of “just another group”.  This is
because I expect the people who post there will be the usual suspects.

I see your point. Well, let's make sure this is not "just another group" by
writing a charter that promises real consequences for unconstructive
behavior. Conflict is good, but bickering is not.

...and besides, I have -ways- of dealing with people like YOU, Mr. Scott.
mua-ha-ha...  [duck again]

You'll have to get my name right 1st. ;)

Have you inspected Arthur’s Seat yet?

They key to managing LUGNET is to find a way to get real feedback
from the bulk of users. How? I have no idea!

While I think community feedback is but one of many keys we need, I do agree
that it's not a simple one. We'll just have to try stuff - ya know?
