(...) then all the mail spammers send would be going directly to lugnet, something i don't think any of us want (especially the sysadmins!). spammers generally don't handpick e-mail addresses, they usually harvest them from the web or newsgroups or (...) (...) Well, I checked a few things out. The web page the e-mail references to appears to be maintained by a Stuart Humphrey using the e-mail address used in the SPAM. Todd, Was browsing Brickshelf a few minutes ago & seen that Kevin was taking donations via snail-mail & PayPal.   How to contribute to the Lugnet database of LEGO
 
I want to contribute to the Lugnet database of LEGO. Do you know the e-mail address to send pictures/information? Or is it "here" ? On the pages of Lugnet I was not able to locate an e-mail address. The best I found had something to do with the (...) (24 years ago, 30-May-00, to lugnet.admin.database)

(...) Easy - every morning, at 7:22 am EST, my script downloads (URL) parses it. It compares it to my own copy of the pause DB, and tells me what has changed.   Having multiple accounts on Lugnet
 
I was wondering if it was possible to have multiple "Accounts" on Lugnet. By this, I mean, having two different configurations for posting messages via the news server or web interface. Someone's at it again with SPAM. This time it was definitely culled from Lugnet, I got two messages with subject lines Re:xxxx which are both threads I have posted in. (...) First of all, in this case, it seems like the spammer just replied to any message he could find in lugnet... As for the spam going to the newsgroups, it can (and it does) only if the poster has gone through the mail setup procedure. Otherwise, (...) (24 years ago, 26-May-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) They do seem to leave enough room to terminate accounts for situations like this. If I was an ISP, I would attempt to get this problem resolved, and reccomend they change their T&C. I hope this is the right forum for technical issues. Anyway, I finally have posting privlidges through NNTP, but only on one computer. Part way through the day yesterday I stopped getting any message from Lugnet. And now its been over 24 hours now since I've received any messages from the Lugnet News-by-mail server. Is it down?
