Re: Change in LUGNET news appearance

(...) Hi Ed, thanks for your suggestions - I will consider them when doing further optimization on the layout. Moving the larger ads into the header area (with the newsgroup listings) makes sense for the respective pages, it will only involve some (...)   Re: Would it be a good idea if LEGO made metal axles?

(...) I think those were just to allow the pre-Technic cog wheels to work on the old motors (4.5 and 12V) which could only turn the round (also metal) axles of the old red LEGO wheels. Later motors had a special bearing for cross axles and worked (...) (17 years ago, 15-Dec-07, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO 9V Train Communication II

Hi all, well, I'm not particularly fond of the IR remote controller as well - I spent a significant amount of money on 9V stuff (the original w/ metal tracks) and hope to keep that in a usable state for some time. The good part is that the plastic (...) (17 years ago, 15-Dec-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Change in LUGNET news appearance

(...) Hi Luca, I have received the same suggestion from other users as well - I will make the box above the "Active threads" display somewhat smaller to reduce scrolling. Where there are no active threads to display, a vertical banner is inserted. (...) (17 years ago, 15-Dec-07, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: RailBricks Issue 1

I'll say: I'm impressed. Really. A lot! Fantastic issue - my congratulations. Though I fear my kids and my lack of spare time will cut short any effort to achieve similar building success, I like a lot of the ideas I am getting from this issue. (...) (...) Dave, is it possible that this relates only to users who have set up several - potentially invalid - email addresses? I have just tried the procedure you laid out and it works fine with my account (otherwise I wouldn't have been so sure about (...) (17 years ago, 14-Dec-07, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New Book Shows How to Build Lego Guns, Catapults

(...) This reads like fun - I just ordered a copy because the movie linked to from the article shows me it's exactly the kind of gear that I've been after for office use (*imagine rather evil grin here*) I'll have to keep it away from the kids, (...) (17 years ago, 14-Dec-07, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Change in LUGNET news appearance

(...) Hi Dave, the average ad works on a pay-per-click scheme, however it is pointless for anyone to just click on several ads in a row - anti click-fraud mechanisms with affiliate programs prevent this from generating cash for LUGNET and will (...)   Re: Change in LUGNET news appearance

Since I'm getting mostly positive feedback so far... I have now also included ads code in the LUGNET Guide pages. This code is also dependant on the Signed-In status, i.e. signed in users will not see the ads. Please keep me updated with issues or (...) (17 years ago, 13-Dec-07, to lugnet.admin.general)

I think it makes sense to post a small update on this issue: As a matter of fact, email is running fine since the discovery of the "hang" some days ago. We have a comprehensive warning and traffic management mechanism in place so we should not run (...) (17 years ago, 13-Dec-07, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Change in LUGNET news appearance

  Serious E-mail issue resolved

@ll, I am very sorry that apparently a serious issue with LUGNET's e-mail service went unnoticed for a couple of days.
