LEGO Make & Take Easter Models @ Denver Outlet

Last night I had a chance to stop by the LEGO Outlet at the Colorado Mills Mall in Denver. In the middle of the store was a table with a couple boxes of bricks and a sign advertising a "Make and Take" offer. There were four Easter models, two eggs (...)   Re: Design wanted: Touch sensor for passing trains

Carl- We designed some that worked very well with the 4561 Railway Express sets that we used for the Orange County Festival of Trees earlier this month. The mechanism uses one of those 5 sided aircraft wing pieces held horizontally flat near the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

I am cautiously optomistic about this entire revelation, but I am skeptical about whether or not they will have an extensive part/color inventory for us to use. If so, here is a scenario that I would consider: ---...--- For those of you who have (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

  Re: Making accurate Y-Wing engines

(...) Would you really need two layers? I don't have any macaroni bricks handy, but from what I remember (and from LDraw), you should be able to replace the second-to-last 4x4 cylinder brick with 4 macaroni bricks, and then put the final 4x4 (...) (26 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: what makes a legend?

(...) The solution here seems obvious... and free. Use more plain old regular bricks in the design of future sets. No need for new molds. No debates over specialized/juniorized parts. And best of all, more good old fashioned bricks with which to (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Is 12v compatible with 9v???

(...) Yes and no. You have to file down some plastic on the inside of the 12v electrified rails to get them to snap onto the 9v tracks. Also, the wheels on the 12v trains knock against the 9v power supply bricks, and can eventually knock the 9v (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts as volumes (instead of surfaces)

If you're interested, take a look at my old Rayshade libraries that made the bricks from scratch using CSG. I'm especially fond of the L3G0 40-tooth technic gear. I've thought it would be nice to have "bounding boxes" for the bricks, for collision (...) (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Dave, If your collection is 500K, then I'd better not even THINK about how large mine is ;-) Take your Iris cart collection, and multiply it by 3. That's all my new bricks. If I can get all the rest of the bricks into Iris carts, add at least what (...) (22 years ago, 9-Jan-03, to lugnet.general)

(...) 2x4 bricks are in 8-part molds, yes. I'd venture a guess that 1x1 molds produce more parts per shot, and that some really large parts might even be single-part shots.
