  Re: Type conversion.

(...) Hi, what you want to do is called type casting,ie. you must explicitly specify the type. I've included some sample code that uses it. Because the beeper function expects a float but the knob function returns an integer, you have to modify the (...) (26 years ago, 19-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR outputB

Is the IR reciever on the HB the same thing as in the robot in MR:ITI book? I though it would be different. In any case, you can but...the reciever is more effective as a "wireless communication" device that can recieve various IR codes which you (...)   Re: windows CE

(...) My current project (at work) involves both IRDA and IR-remotes. So this ties in with the RCX stuff to a great extent. The IRDA standard does not use a carrier frequency. The IR led is pulsed for a portion of a bit time on a standard serial (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Ir transmission

(...) The bytecode interpreter does it, which is what NQC maps to (opcode 43). I'd prefer a timer (or access to a clock) with millisecond resolution rather than a delay because things will get interesting whan multitasking. What is the CPU clock (...)   Wireless communication with the Handyboard

Hello, I've been very busy trying to communicate with the Handyboard via a wireless link ( HP Development kit form Linx Technologies). I have run into a slight problem- The kit comes with 2 "development boards" - each contains a transmitter, (...) (25 years ago, 16-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Mobile Robot Question

(...) Can anyone answer all that? I think the answer is "it depends". Unfortunately it depends on so many variables that you'll just have to implement one system at a time, checking each thoroughly and modifying as you go. Make sure to go back and (...)   Re: Proxy ratcheting: How do auction systems work?

(...) Allowing someone to lower the "secret" part of the bid (the proxy max) is Definitely a Good Thing. If the min/current is $x and the max/proxy is $y, it's important to let the bidder lower $y -- at any time -- to any value (...) This is (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: handyboard clock speed

(...) From the data books for the 68HC11, if you have any version of the E-series (except for perhaps one, a low-power version?), you can run them at up to a 3MHz E-clock (12MHz crystal). I haven't looked at the rest of the handyboard schematic with (...) (25 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Your update frequency is a little high, I feel. Once a day or so is probably the most you should do. Also, can you please give some sense as to what to expect for shipping costs from Hungary?   Re: IR Tower range

In my experience, the actual range depends on many factors: - the orientation of both the IR tower and the RCX - reflecting surfaces in your room - interferences I'd say in (...) In article (...) 650 ticks per second works out to about 1.5 ms per tick. I didn't think the RCX sampled inputs that fast - I thought it was 3.0 ms per sample.
