  Re: A load of balls

I checked out the Nerf balls that are about the same size as the LEGO ones, but they are much denser and harder. I was surprised. They probably shoot much better than the super light foam ones, though. I got a wicked pile of Ping Pong balls that are (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms in New York Times

I figure LEGO must owe you about a million dollars. Getting this kind of publicity before Christmas in the New York Times is worth a ton of money. But not at all to take away from your acheivement. You earned the recognition. But tell us: how did (...) (23 years ago, 11-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Need Advice on Getting Started

Conrad, hands down, don't hesitate to get a "real" RIS set. Really. You will be disappointed with any other, and you won't be with the RIS. You should be able to find it on sale. I heard of them going for $130 at BestBuy near here, and this was the (...) (23 years ago, 24-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  New hinge/joint element?

Check out (URL) some of its links. The pictures are not quite good enough to see how the thing is made, but it appears the ankles, knees and elbows are made of the same joint. It looks like a trapped ball with through-axle. --Jack Gregory (23 years ago, 6-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 1.5 Upgrade -how?

Well, I want to check out the 1.5 software (may have to use it for FLL next year), and don't really have another choice. The price isn't a problem, it is the fact that while it says "24 Hours", you get completely different companies depending on (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  2000 Technic in WalMart

I was amazed to see a Battle Droid at Walmart today, just lying on a shelf. Looked like a lot of 2000 stuff was there, but there was only one droid. Usually the LEGO aisle at Walmart is fairly picked over this close to Christmas, but it was well (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)

  DSDK's at CompUSA

I scored six Dark Side Developer Kits at CompUSA this AM (Braintree, MA, USA) at $19.99 per. Several were beat up and opened, and I haven't checked them yet. Not the $4.88 they were supposedly going for in some parts a couple weeks back, but a far (...) (23 years ago, 17-Dec-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

  Great LEGO SAH catalog supplement

Today we (in Massachusetts, USA) received the special SAH catalog featuring the new SW stuff (and the old stuff). It is a tour-de-force in marketing. I haven't seen any advertising, anywhere, that made me want to have it all as much as this does. (...) (22 years ago, 2-May-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Date : Thu, 21 Nov 2002 16:23:22 +0000 This is just like anything else in the world....it is all realative to what your trying to prove.   Re: awsome gear table

I don't know about the first link mentioned, but this one (sjbaker) is incomplete in the sense that it is possible to create legitimate 1/2 stud spacing, and I think, with some further trickery, 1/2 brick vertical spacing. This would produce a (...) (23 years ago, 3-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Looking for track

I have just taken the plunge this year to get a train, and now have the problem of acquiring enough track. Is there a good way to get track? Short of calling S@H that is. Are there regular auctions that include track? Is there a way to get track and (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

Dave Johnson <djohnson@sirius.com> wrote in message news:0FNZ00JD94JH7Y@...pbi.net... (...) I think you are drawing entirely the wrong conclusions.   Re: killing off technic

Yes, but one only need look at Gallidor or whatever it is to see that they don't understand what "lost focus" means. Plus software, watches, etc. It is clear that the marketing people think they have to go after this "new kind of kid" who isn't (...) (23 years ago, 14-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Remote dead, what to do?

My remote control suddenly stopped working yesterday, and I immediately replaced the batteries, but that does not appear to have been the problem. What is the failure mode of these devices? Can the ir "bulb" burn out? If so, can it be replaced? Is (...) (24 years ago, 5-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  1.5 Upgrade -how?

I just tried (11:30 PM) to order a 1.5 upgrade from Shop at Home. Not a free one, this is for one of the first Mindstorms sold. No dice. Said I couldn't order anything that wasn't in the catalog. I gave her the number I got off Lego World Shop, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: First LEGO League competition in Cincinnati Ohio

As a head referee for 3 of these contests this year, and many in the past, I have to second Jeff's recommendation to volunteer for these. You can find them on www.legoleague.org .   Re: Erroded axles

I read this in your [fantastic, best LEGO robot book ever] book as well, but don't understand it. The snapping action of the links doesn't open in the direction they would be loaded in use, so how do they come apart? Did you try them in both (...) Yes, your new page is good and what we need. But I immediately have a question: It seems there are two pairs of canted receptors, two at front, and two at about mid-board. This implies there is some inherent directional sensing? I assume at least (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

  Re: Solar panels, capacitor

Thanks for your response, but it really didn't address my questions. 1. How are these things supposed to be connected to an RCX? 2. Assuming that I could get power to it, would the RCX run with a solar panel (300ma) if I didn't connect any motors? I (...) (23 years ago, 13-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics)
