  sim6811 v1.3 for Mac available

Tomaso Paoletti has kindly sent me the latest version of his 6811 simulator, easily the best available for the Macintosh. It's available on cher in the projects/6811 directory, but cher is down right now, so you can get it from the HB home page: (...) (28 years ago, 26-Oct-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  compile ICB files under Windows

Hi all, it turns out that the answer for doing this has been available for two years (!) Kent Farnsworth put together a set of GNU compiler tools, Randy's modified AS11 assembler, and a DOS version of the "as11_ic" Unix shell script, all working for (...)   Re: voltage regulator

there is probably some other circuit on your board that is drawing too much power. put your finger on the other chips and see if any of them is hot (there shouldn't be any). if necessary, remove all socketed chips to see if you can get the (...)   Re: HandyBoard and iMac?

hi eric, i haven't tried any of these products, but they *should* work. the mac hb software uses low level driver calls, so if that stuff is patched and translated to usb, it would work. but if i were you i'd get one and try it on an existing (...)   Re: Modem Cable

It is straight-thru. Please note that if you are connecting from a 9-pin male PC port to the HB interface's 25-pin female, the means that you have the following mapping: DB-9 DB-25 2 3 3 2 5 7 In other words, the same cable as you would use to (...)   Re: Address locations port d and y0

it's in the faq, at (URL) you do is write to 0x4000, 0x5000, 0x6000 depending on whether your latch is attached to Y0, Y2, or Y4 (respectively). e.g., "poke(0x4000, 0xff);" will set all the bits of a latch attached to Y0 to 1.   Re: servo help

try running the servo off of a separate power supply; e.g., 4 AA cells. you'd connect the servo red wire to the battery + lead, the servo black wire to the battery - lead, and also connect the battery - lead to the HB motor ground. in general it is (...)   Re: non-linear motor speed problem

The test isn't fair under no-load conditions, because then the motor just spins when you give it any signal. Are you sure the performance is the same when you have a full operating load? This would not make sense; I would guess that this would mean (...) (28 years ago, 11-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: DIP switches

you can use dip switches in the standard digital in ports if you either (a) solder them to male header first, or (b) insert them in a wire-wrap socket and then insert the wire-wrap socket pins into the HB sensor ports. both of these methods get (...) two things you can try: 1. use DLM to download the CONFIG0C.S19 file. Make sure to use the -eeprom flag. This will cause it to burn the config register to the proper value. 2.
