Dear Fred: I have not received any messages from [handyboard] since May5, (exactly the date when my credit card was charged $100 for the professional copy of IC3.1). I also have not received any printed manuals (promised just after May 5th) and my (...) (27 years ago, 26-Jun-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Motors: Please help! Going out of my mind...

Please somebody help! Actually it's not quite that bad, but I've been searching and hunting trying to find some motors to use for a new robot base. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to find motors with gearboxes that can carry a few pounds (...) (27 years ago, 25-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: weird headers

(...) Thanks, I stuck a pot in it's place and fiddled with it until I got 4.49k and it worked great. I came up with the 4.49k by taking 1/x*.0068 = 32.75. Where .0068 is the cap, and 32.75 was my desired frequency. So x was determined to be 4.49 (...) (27 years ago, 23-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handy Board - Interface/Charger Board

Hi, I have started a project to build a Handy Board and everything was going fine until I started checking voltage in step 3.2.2. I get around +5 volts going from pin 2 of U16 to pin 7 of J9. Also, when checking pin 6 of U16 I'm getting nothing. I (...) (27 years ago, 12-Jun-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

That particular weird header is originated by John Whitten, aka root@snotnose.wizard.org, not my mail list program. All my mail list program does is forward along any mail sent to "handyboard@media.mit.edu" to each person on the distribution list. (...) (27 years ago, 22-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: IR

Brett, Since I'm going through a couple of corporate LANs and WANs, it would be no easy task to reconfigure my mailer.   IR

Hello all, I've been playing with IR proximity sensors, and wonder if anyone can provide some suggestions. I hooked up an IR LED (Radio Shack 'high output IR LED') to the Handyboard's IR output with a 330ohm resistor in series (the smallest value (...)   Re: IR signal

Sounds to me like your LED is just not focused straight ahead. I found that sticking the IR LED in a Radio Shack panel mount LED holder (cat no 276-080a) worked the best for focusing the beam of IR. I had tried soda straws and other things, but the (...) (27 years ago, 21-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  6500 Sonar and HandyBoard

Kent, I read your quick explaination of how to connect the Polaroid 6500 sonar board to the HandyBoard, and I have a couple of questions.... Mainly, you mention that the INIT signal plugs into pin 9 of the second motor driver chip socket, and that (...) (27 years ago, 20-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Has anyone built this homebrew sonar ranging board?

(URL) a system similiar to the Polaroid 6500, but costs <$10 to build. Has anyone done it? Should I try it and share the results? (of course I should!)   Re: Handy Board Problem: getting hb back into download mode

(...) Are you holding down the STOP button? With the board powered on, read the voltage at pin 3 of the 6811. When pressing the STOP button, pin 3 should read between zero volts and 0.6v.
