Sounds to me like your LED is just not focused straight ahead. I found that
sticking the IR LED in a Radio Shack panel mount LED holder (cat no 276-080a)
worked the best for focusing the beam of IR. I had tried soda straws and other
things, but the LED holder worked the best for me.
Also, you may want to put a pot in series with the LEDs to allow you to adjust
their brightness. Check the brightness with a camcorder viewfinder...

Hi All,
My SharpIS1U60 detectors seem to be picking up strong signals
from the LED even when there is no obstacle in front of it.
I have mounted the detector 1 inch under the LED , with a brass
plate separating them. Two more detectors mounted to the left and
right of the LED are working fine.
Any suggestions ........have any of u faced this problem before???
