  what makes a legend?

We're having a debate here in the ABS-paved halls of LEGO Direct that I'd like to throw open to the community. The topic is: what makes a LEGO Legend a legend? Or, more precisely, if we cannot bring back a set precisely as it was (or pretty darn (...) (23 years ago, 19-Oct-01, to lugnet.lego.direct) !!

(...) Why not do it on your own? You and the others have already attacked Richard and Pawel enough to illicit this kind of reply. Were I Richard, I'd feel the same way. Instead of unifying the community, you (and some others) are the ones dividing (...) (21 years ago, 4-Sep-03, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle, FTX)

All you guys want to do with CW is turn it into a game forum, and CW was NEVER about gaming. That's what I don't understand. CW was NEVER about gaming. Never! I also personally find it annoying that no one has responded directly to Pawel's post (...) (21 years ago, 4-Sep-03, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle, FTX)

(...) This is one of the most sensible posts of this entire thread, IMO. I'm not a Castle-head, but I've been following the discussion here -- half entertained, half annoyed by the level of whining I'm reading. In my view, Jojo's point makes so much (...) (...) Changes that keep the spirit and character of a set 'alive' are fine (i.e. the wheels and the hollow studs on the minifig head). To use another's example, making a #375/6075 Yellow Castle with the various wall bricks are not. I'd have to go (...) (23 years ago, 21-Oct-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

I think this stems from the fact that there was discussion about allowing the evolution of Castleworld, but different people with different ideas about what should be done next, with their own individual pre-concieved ideas.
