  Re: TLG investigation 1st answers

(...) I'm not a collector, but I buy older sets because of the fantastic models they have, especially compared to much of the current line. Re-release of older sets is not as big on our lists as new sets with the same quality as the '80s line-up. I (...) (26 years ago, 19-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) I can't find fault with either of those statements, but I must point out that developing a product for kids does not require "dumbing it down." Let's use some examples. The Star Wars movies and merchandise were not generally "dumbed down," yet (...) (26 years ago, 22-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Hotel Coral Essex

(...) Hey Bryan, Yeah, the door thing bugs me too. There are a more modern version of doors that do have a left and a right. I think it is a all clear panel with just a border of color around the edge and a small square for a handle. I only have em (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Fence colours

Ah yes! The proverbial lattice fence pieces. Others have already described the 2 different styles. Actually there are 5 different Lattice styles (that I'm aware of) since they first came onto the scene circa 1968. For the 1x4 and 2x4 sizes Joshua (...)   Lynn's Parts Auction: Many rare castle pieces, Train Windows, and a new and improved bidding technique!

Due to popular demand and the fear of a lynch mob gathering outside my door, i've revamped the bidding process. you can still bid the old way, but it's much quicker and easier to use the new way. The software is still a work in progress so I (...) (26 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: More parts feedback

(...) Let me first say that I reversed the order of the description (i.e. chain link -> link chain) to make sure they sorted correctly. When it comes to your question, it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure I like it too much. The length of a (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  The Tale of a Monorail

On 11 Feb I bought a 6990 monorail on eBay. I was, for some reason I still don't quite understand, the only bidder, and I got it for $175 (which considering other monorail prices, I thought was a good deal). Good tips. I can't emphasise enough the power of doing design studies. Bits and pieces that you can work from after you're happy. If anybody is looking for Duplo, I've got some. I figured since I was getting the 5 & 8 year olds regular silver bricks, I better get some Duplo silver for the 2 year old. My devotion for LEGO both ended and resurrected with the 5580 Highway Rig. (URL) the age of 13-14 or so, I got this set. I bought it with my own saved money, despite my mother's comment that I was too old for LEGO. When I had built the 5580, I (...) (26 years ago, 11-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)
