Re: Some questions that relate to an idea I am thinking about

(...) I have built a robot based on this architecture. I used it to attend a contest where the robots had to cover a distance, touch a wall, rotate and come back as precisely as possible to the starting point. I don't have a page on my site for this (...) (22 years ago, 20-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Two servos, when moving, can pull two AMPS of current. Thats 2000mA. Two (...) (28 years ago, 21-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) 1 4 9 ?? where have I heard that before?... I had no idea it was 1 4 9 ! OK, seriously. What I'm driving at is that if you want to do it in bricks and do it the easy way, studs up, the dimensions I gave for bricks of 2x8x15 high convert to 40 (...)   Two piece light sensor.

Greetings, Well I finally succeeded. I have created two piece light sensor emitter pair. To do this I took the basic light sensor circuit of Malcolm S. Powell (see (URL) and broke it into two pieces. I built the emitter in one brick and the detector (...) (26 years ago, 30-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Do it yourself light sensors. How does RCX drive them?

Greetings, I've been attempting to build my own IR sensor just like the one that ships with Mindstorms. I've been to the various sites that describe such things, and have even built the circuits described there (see (URL) Unfortunately I haven't (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Oops! (...) Hmmm, (digging through rilly old RTL news archives) wow, looks like the term LU meaning 1/6 standard brick height goes back at least about 4 years -- it appears first to have been suggested on 23 Apr 1995 by Kevin Horton. In a (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  RE: Classic scale building?

(...) Ummmm, If you make your buildings solid, the factor is 8! Think about is starting with a 1x1 brick. If you double each dimension, you have a 2x2x2 volume, which is 8 1x1s. Even a 1 brick/floor empire state building is going to be awfully tall! (...) (26 years ago, 14-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Why 5 to 6?

Brick sizes vary in the US and probably moreso across the globe. The "common" brick size is 8" x 4" x 2-2/3" nominal. Actual size subtracts 3/8" from each dimension for mortar joints. The size of the common brick is determined by human scale. The (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 8 millimeters or 5/16 inches? (was Re: Scales (Was: New Lego page!)

A whilo ago it struck me that the base unit of LEGO probably was defined in inches not in mm. 1/16 inch is far more an obvious unit than 1.6 mm. This is an interesting fact, because it reveals the British heritage of the LEGO brick. So while TLG (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jul-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.faq)
