Did anyone see Spybotics on Tech TV

Did anyone see this episode reviewing Spybots on TechTV? (URL) I missed it. Was the review good or bad? Cheers, Ralph (22 years ago, 6-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

Re: Service pack 5111 - Wires - no longer available

(...) Well, if Spybotics is the true harbinger of doom, the future is to put the computer, the motors, the batteries and all of the sensors into one indivisible lump of plastic. At this point wires are unnecessary and the end user no longer cares (...) (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Well, I guess - but the Spybotics firmware wouldn't know how to drive the extra motor - unless it replaced one of the built-in motors which would then be 'dead weight'. I think you'd have to be pretty desperate to want to do that...especially (...) (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I recently bought one of these new Spybots. I would like to get some background information. I also have an RIS 2.0 and would like to know if and how Spybotics and Mindstorms can be combined. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank You (...) (22 years ago, 20-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Hi Peter, They had the Racing Rig for $89.99 plus tax. The pile has shrunk. I was just out there again with the kids this morning again after a game of mini-golf with the kids. Highlights...not too many...what do I recall??? They had those new LEGO (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  Re: programming spybot

(...) If you get a "parse error" (i.e., the error actually contains the text "parse error") then more than likely BricxCC thinks it should use NQC to compile your file. The file needs to have a .RCX2 or .LSC extension in order for BricxCC to know (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

(...) ... (...) I fear the implication is that they're not going to replace it; that Spybotics and its ilk are the Mindstormiest things we'll be seeing. I fear it is over. (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

To follow up on my initial post; I have received information from LD today which indicates that Mindstorms and other sundry 9v bits and pieces are not in immediate jeopardy. (Wipes brow...) Quite what has happened to 5111 is still a mystery. In the (...) (22 years ago, 3-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I'll care what the voltage is, becuase I have to buy batteries for it/use a wall wart. Higher voltage == more batteries/more expensive batteries, and also more space. So, it seems to me (since the RCX/siblings are already fairly large on a Lego (...) (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Yeah, serious business huh! I will investigate the Pitsco source, but I have a feeling that it may be limited too. I think TLC are quietly pulling the plug on their whole 9v system. You can't buy 9v train connectors anymore, you now can't buy these (...) (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I noticed that my Spybotics remote control has 3 LEDs in it, on being the small visible red one for seeing that it is working, a large white one with a flat end, and a large grey one in a normal LED casing.
