  More SpyBotics Info

All, Looks like there is still some confusion about the memory in the Spybotics module. I just got this from someone who knows much more about the details than I do: The EEPROM device that we use holds four kilobytes (that's 32 kilobits), of which (...) (...) That's pretty depressing - if Spybotics don't make money, Mindstorms is doomed - and if Spybotics does make money Mindstorms *is* Spybotics...so we're still doomed. (...) What I wanted to see happen would have solved that problem quite neatly. (...) (21 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Spybotics demo followup questions

All, Several questions came up during the Spybotics demo at BrickFest that Jeff was unable to answer on the spot. He has since passed those questions and corresponding answers on to me: *** How much memory is in the brick? (compared to RCX) *** Two (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Spybotics - A great disappointment

I had a perfect opportunity to speak with Brad Justus, Jake McKee and Jeff Ardis at BrickFest on the subject of Spybotics. First of all, it was pointed out that the box says its being aimed at 9 year olds and that it doesn't say its a Mindstorms (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jul-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Firmware

Does anyone know (for sure) if the firmware on the spybotics can be replaced? I assume that having the programs in eprom (or whatever it is) means the firmware is in the same long-term-memory type of place, so the firmware is pre-loaded. Can anyone (...) I have connected both a RCX and a CyberMaster to a CodePilot (and also to a MicroScout). I don't remember if I tried connecting also a Spybotics, but I think it work too. I'd be happy with a good "official" LEGO SONAR sensor and a fixed version of the LEGO Rotation Sensor (without the lost "clicks" bug) On the RCX side, I'd like a RCX 3.0 with 6+ sensor inputs and more outputs (and more RAM.
