| | Re: Battery voltage
|
| You know, after the first time I read through the SDK for 2.0, I always wanted to try sending immediate commands from the RCX to another one. that, I suspect, I can do with the standard firmware and NQC (I'll have to try). But to get information (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

| | RE: Interactive human-controlled bots

| The three buttons on the remote control simply send messages 1, 2, and 3. These are the only buttons that send IR codes that can be processed by your RCX program. All the other buttons send codes that get processed directly by the firmware, and will (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | Re: time sampling under the rcx standard OS
|
| (...) Francois, I think you should be able to get much faster sampling. I can easily get 10-20 Hz, and others have claimed to get down to 3 ms. Whether it can be done at a constant rate, I'm not sure, and think it probably depends on what else is in (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| (...) ??? I think you are making a new interpreter sound harder than it really is. The standard firmware might not be incredibly fast, but it certainly supports multithreading, and synchronization wouldn't be hard to add. The only challenging thing (...) Perhaps we should organize, and give everyone who needs them a specific block of IR message numbers to (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) I agree on this point. I've been forced to move to legOS not by intrinsic NQC limitations but by those imposed by the RCX firmware. I still prefer to use RcxCC/NQC when I don't need legOS: programs load much faster, it's a pleasant and (...) (25 years ago, 3-May-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | Re: ideas for a RIS 2.0 - Rechargability
|
| I tried NiMH batteries in my RCX. It lost its firmware. I suspect the output voltage (6 x 1.2 = 7.2) is too low. You should be able to do it using an external battery pack, but I suggest you use 8 cells instead of 6. The resulting 9.6 volts shouln't (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
