| Back in '63 there was only the Town System. All 138 parts packs were for Town. Today there are about 25 or so parts packs for Town. All the rest are for the other Lego Systems (although many of the ones I include in Town can be used in other (...) (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

| Scott, In 2004, when they open up the three permanent downtown Detroit Casino's (MGM Grand, Circus Circus, etc) on the riverfront (800 million dollars each), there will probably be something like the "Caesar's World of Shops" (in Las Vegas). | OK, someone recently asked me what Samsonite Lego is. LEGO, as we all know was founded in Denmark. By the mid 1950's, it was sold throughout the Scandanavian countries of Europe. | Well, there were a lot of sets in the 1970's that had those 10x20 green (1 brick thick) baseplates with the tubes around the bottom inside edge. | I'm sure there are a lot of nuances that went into this decision. The Danish company was only into its' 8th year of exporting it's product when it entered the US market. | Hmmm, Let's see, I have sets 148 (Central Train Station) and 149 (Shell Refinery). They both came out in 1975, and both have the green baseplates with the tubes underneath. That would place the conversion date prior to 1975. I also have a 1970 US (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
