Re: #111 Universal Building Set Year?

I have the 110, 111, 112, 113 and 114 sets (at home), but I think that the 1977 year sounds correct. These were the first Basic Sets that carried arches (3 of the 5 did) in a set that was not a model kit. Gary Istok (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

LEGO Window & Door History - Part 3

I got a request recently to say a few more things about LEGO windows. I have to admit, though, that I don't know too much about the newer 1990's windows, and maybe someone else can take the baton for Part 4 -1990's windows (Town Jr.), for some of (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: LEGO Window & Door History - Part 3

Right vs. Left hand doors are another interesting LEGO variation (like the classic window "sill" vs. "sill-less" varieties). I know that with the Classic Doors (3 bricks high), the 3 colors they come in are red, white, yellow. Of these I have both (...) (26 years ago, 5-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

  J.L. HUDSONS LEGO Window - 1962.

Last week I was at a historic preservation meeting at a Detroit group that I belong to (called Preservation Wayne). At that meeting a fellow who knows I collect LEGO gave me a color copy of a 1962 window display from the J.L. Hudsons department (...) (26 years ago, 5-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

  The Golden Ages of LEGO

REPRINTED FROM RTL: lego fan wrote: Like John said when you first started out building .... those were the best years .... which is why I think that the golden years were 1961-65, my early years. That was when the Town Plan (set 725) with 1150 (...) (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) Scandanavian Castle). I have a 1970 Samsonite LEGO dealers catalog, and it states that this is a new 1970 item, and wasn't available for more than 2 years, so it must not have been all that popular. Alright, I'll put in my 2 cents worth (incessant ramblings...) about minifig accessories (since I do loathe minifigs so - no wait, their heads do make such great gothic pinnacles for cathdral towers....). Anyway, those really old 1x1 round bricks (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Well, I haven't been to LEGOLAND California yet, but the 1x1 cylinder bricks have a hole in the top of each brick (where the "LEGO" logo is supposed to be), and you could string them together. Wow, that's the Meijer I visit sometimes on my lunch hour. Scott, if you see a 6'3'' brown haired guy (with goatee type beard) shaking his head in disbelief in the LEGO aisle, that will probably be me. But since it's not your primary job, you're (...) (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)
