Well, I haven't been to LEGOLAND California yet, but the 1x1 cylinder
bricks have a hole in the top of each brick (where the "LEGO" logo is
supposed to be), and you could string them together. The 1x1 cylinder
bricks (one of my all time favorites), has had a hole in its top for many
years now, probably since the mid 80's. I have a large assortment of each
type, and I must say I prefere the ones without the hole.
