Definitely red 1x1's for Coke. white for Diet coke or Diet Dr Pepper.
Yellow I've used for Mountain Dew or Squirt. Green for 7-up or Sprite,
Blue for RC Cola. Brown for Root Beer, Mug, maybe.

LOL!  Great list!!

For any non-alc beverages, has anyone ever used black for anything?

Well, cooffee, duh!  That's what I'm drnking right now.  Oh wait, you said
non-alc.

Hmm. Irish cooffee, eh? That explains your drnking problem. :)

For regular coffee and hot chocolate I use the minifig mugs with handles. But
maybe black 1x1's would be good for Guiness in cans.
