For long-necked bottles, what about pushing a short piece of technic
tubing through the hole in a 1x1 round?

(...) Hmm. I don't know. In my head, I see just a 1x1 with a stem. For me, that wouldn't work as a glass bottle, but maybe it looks like something else, like a waterbottle with one of those really long straws. Actually, those "sportsbottles" would (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)
