Re: Extremely expensive 1x1 round bricks!

(...) Good Answer Clark!!! These 1x1 round bricks with Esso labels are NOT the same as those shown in the Ultimate Lego Book. The ULB picture shows a 1:43 scale truck, one of many that Lego sold in the 1950's, but they were larger than the 1:87 cars (...) (23 years ago, 21-May-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: How many used to do this when building?

(...) On the space sets, I was never that concerned about looks. I guess the Star Wars movies got me used to thinking of spaceships as something that got kicked around and beat up a bit when used. Now, if I was going to build a spaceship-dealer's (...) (24 years ago, 11-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Classics - some questions to explore

Hey Lar, I've been back to Germany a dozen times (after having been born there), and I've visited about 150 German toy stores. I can't see anything that you said about the German market that I wouldn't agree with. I too would be curious with (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Classic - what makes a set a classic?

(...) I sort of agree with you Kyle, because I consider classic TOWN to be the era from 1955-1965, when it first came out. But the 1955-57 era is sort of pre-classic, in the sense that the bricks didn't have the binding tubes underneath until 1958. (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.general)

Dave, I have shipped about 50 envelopes with US Currency to Germany in the last 2 years. None was ever lost. Here's what you do: get a Christmas Card w/ envelope (any card, such as Birthday or Sympathy will do). Tape your money to the inside of the (...) Good observations Tore! The #049 Samsonite Parts pack you have was made from around 1968-71 (possibly earlier). Here is where you can find it in a late 1960's Samsonite catalog (from the Bill Katz/Joe Lauher website): (URL) enough is that the (...) (23 years ago, 29-May-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: why parts yellow (was Re: Sopwith Camel pictures)

Recently I was checking some of my Classic Lego windows & doors for yellowing. The older ABS white windows (from 1964-72) were quite prone to yellowing. However, ALL of my Cellulose Acetate white windows had sustained NO yellowing (I have hundreds (...) (23 years ago, 31-May-01, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Identifying part

One possibility is late 1960's truck sets such as 334 (or possibly 310). These sets had 5x6 plates in blue, some possibly with a hole in the middle for the steering column. In the Samsonite versions (North America), some of the yellow and red plates (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)

I kinda agree with Kevin (although the weather in Michigan has been more like England for the last few weeks, cold and rainy). Maybe people are waiting for the July surprise from Lego Direct. Lawrence, I agree with you 100%. Bulk Sales have kind of been pretty stagnant. I would love to see clear bricks in many sizes, macaroni bricks, 2x2 round bricks, and more town windows available.   Old Parts in Legend Sets?

I will be curious when the Guarded Inn arrives in July. Will it have the old style minifig heads with no open top? Or the newer style with the hole on top with what looks like the Mercedes emblem over the hole. I tend to think that the Legend sets (...)
