One possibility is late 1960's truck sets such as 334 (or possibly 310).  These
sets had 5x6 plates in blue, some possibly with a hole in the middle for the
steering column.  In the Samsonite versions (North America), some of the yellow
and red plates of this size were still made of Cellulose Acetate.

Hi,

I'd like to know from what set is a plate 5 x 6 in blue color (number 711 in
lugnet partsref). My friend has that part and he doesn't know from what set
it is from.

Thanks,
Toni

It helps if I show the set (from Horst Lehner's wonderful European catalogs): (URL) Istok (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yep, I think it's from the 710 'Wrecker with Car' I have one of these. Psi (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)

I guess you are right. I remember now that I saw another rare piece in my friend's lego box, a 3 x 3 x 1 red door with clear window, which I have seen in truck sets in lugnet guide. Thanks. (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)
