  Re: 1887 Blacktron Scooter

(...) Have a look for that part under town radio (stupid, i know but no-one has gotten around to putting the thing in the minifig category) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.models.sets)

Re: when they say "fresh" batteries, they mean it!

(...) Yep. The measured voltage is the idle voltage. The normal approximation to a battery is an ideal voltage source at 9V and a Thevenin resisance of some ohms, say 7 ohms, in series. This will give a stall current of about 1,25A at a terminal (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Parts for LDraw or parts for POV-Ray?

(...) I'd give that one a hearty "Heck, Yes!" :) Except I never did come up with a decent working version of Rayshade/Netshade. I finally settled for the POV- Ray port of L3G0. Even made a few parts for myself. :) No rounded edges, though. :( In (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts for LDraw or parts for POV-Ray?

(...) Good idea, we shouldn't be discussing this in lugnet.flame.flame :) and Steve said: (...) I've done that to LeoCAD a few months ago, when you export a file to POV-Ray it first searches the LGEO library for the parts and then if it cannot find (...)   Re: Gears & Mico Motor (Plus Wired Remote Control!)

(...) <SNIP!!!> Oops. I think I meant Toys-R-Us in Kingston, MA. (I just saw Robert Munafo's recent post about having been there last night, and I'm amazed that he had the restraint not to buy every shuttle he could grab!) I'm very sorry if anyone (...)   Re: i admit i was wrong

(...) Thanks Todd. The way I see it is that he has plenty of enthusiasm, but just isn't cut out for the part-designing facet of Legodom. But as the CLSotW has pointed out, there are 1,060 ways to connect 3 8-stud bricks, so there's got to be a way (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: i admit i was wrong

(...) How bout some help on rudimentary tasks on ldraw.org? There's a lot of stuff that needs to be done that is menial minimum-wage type stuff.   Re: Parts packs being discontinued? My rep says "no"

I also got confirmation they are NOT stopping them. The rumor may have come about from only certain packs being discontinued (which they do all the time, sometimes releasing the exact same or nearly exact same contents under a new number).   Re: i admit i was wrong

(...) Hmm. Wow. Deep. Yeah, what Tom said. Can things be broken into levels? tasks assigned (via voluntary cooperation)? Are there sub-tasks which could be accomplished by beginners or apprentices just as well as by masters? What's that word? (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.admin.general)

  In-set catalogues this year

How many different in-set catalogues are there in UK sets this year? At the start of 1999, the new sets (Space Port, Adventurers) came with the 1998 in-set catalogue. 1. The Ep4-6 Star Wars came with a folded 2xA4 flyer with pilot Luke on the front. (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: i admit i was wrong

(...) bad, (...) [...] Very nice analogy. This is how restaurants, neighborhoods, dance/night clubs et. al. of all kinds start losing patronage and favor. It all starts with "I'll do what I want in here", which BTW can include the attitude of the (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Has anybody noticed... (Space themes)

(...) Because it's easier to market and inspire buyer excitement for entire new lines than for updates to existing lines. Compare these come-on lines: "Wow! This year, we're going to new places with theme XYZ!" and "Hey! You loved last year's stuff (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Parts packs being discontinued? My rep says "no"

(...) I saw it mentioned either here or on RTL (more likely here); I called either S@H or (more likely) CA. The rep I talked to immediately said that it was apparently being planned - he went to find out more and came back saying that it has been (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Bulk Ordering - Secrets Revealed.

(...) I don't think Mark was implying that going public would improve customer service. He was just saying it would be the natural end-product of TLG's short-sightedness and indifference to high quality standards. Steve (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: i admit i was wrong

(...) Must be one heck of a system, to compile that slowly. (...) Yes and no. I'm trying not to reiterate too much here. On other lugnet ng's, I'd be willing to say that jw is just annoying. But under lugnet.cad, he occasionally reaches the level of (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.admin.general)
