Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) Hmm, interesting. They were claiming you needed to use a credit card now. So much for that... They are seriously getting to the point of needing a good kick in the pants. They really aren't very friendly (though more friendly to sellers, so (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Time cruisers or Time losers? (was:Re: Pirate/castle helmet...)

Shiri, Well, I think the Time Cruisers series were a real waste of plastic, talent, and manufacturing time. It seems that they had bunches of spare parts laying around, so they thought, hey, let's make some models out of it! The sets contain some (...)   Re: I just died and went to lego heaven...

(...) Well, I did live here when I was 3-6. So it's not like it's all new to me. Still rough at times, though. (...) I'll quote my math teacher on his favorite line: "Thinking is *HARD*!" (...)   Re: Some new belville-themed town buildings

Thanks Shiri, I've thought about trying to tie them (the big pink pointed pieces) into a castle somehow, but this would be even more challenging than a town building. Interestingly enough, I found a famouse rococo-styled building whose facade (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.belville, lugnet.build.arch)

  My first NQC

I just have to share - I know it's very basic, but it's my first program with NQC! and it's even cooler, since I can now use my 486 to program the RCX, and don't need to steal computer time from my wife's Windows :P I just wrote a little prog to run (...)   Re: I just died and went to lego heaven...

Some years ago I walked in to an engineering building at MIT and summoned up the nerve to ask some professors what they were working on. They had been meeting in an open central area before splitting up to their offices. To my amazement, the first (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us.ma.bos)

Re: I just died and went to lego heaven...

(...) heheh... when I moved to Boston, started taking math at BHS, and in the first test I got a 10 (out of 100). Definitely didn't make a good impression on my teacher. It took two months before I finally caught up with the terminology... :/ After (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us.ma.bos, lugnet.loc.il)

Re: Some new belville-themed town buildings

Thanks! Yes, before, it was a dinky 2-story structure. There is an interesting story about the start of the cutie store. I didn't used to like Belville, but my fiancee (NLF unfortunately) insisted on getting some because she thought it would make a (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.belville)

Re: Time cruisers or Time losers? (was:Re: Pirate/castle helmet...)

I have a feeling that your message will get about a zillion responses, but we'll see. I actually bought up several time cruisers set on sale laster year from LEGO shop-at-home (for about 1/2 price). I was primarily interested in aquiring a few rare (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: How are these promotional sets made?

(...) Notice how all these companies have a going concern to promote... that's what puts the pro in "promotional". I think Lego is going to be looking for well- known names that together enhance both brands. Maybe you should start selling cement or (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.promo)

Re: Some new belville-themed town buildings

Oops - I put the reference to the 'famous" building, but I didn't notice that Shiri had clipped the original link to my LEGO building that bears a similarity (at least I think so): (URL) Hamilton <bhamilto1@home.com> wrote in message (...) (...) If it makes you feel any better, so did I. I remember my friends all wanted cars for high school graduation, but I just had to have one of the first HP calculators. (Yikes!   Has anyone used the big Belville cream castle part or pink spire in a mini-fig castle?

I'm curious if anyone has tried to create a credible looking castle using either the Belville pink spire piece (the big clear one) or the cream, round castle pillar? (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Has anyone used the big Belville cream castle part or pink spire in a mini-fig castle?

(...) I'll leave this spot open... but I doubt anyone ever did. ;-) The few BV fans/buyers that are also castle fans (Craig, Richard M, Frank F and Suz come to mind) haven't expressed anything about it, AFAIK... Frank even told me he'll try and (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Some new belville-themed town buildings

(...) I have never used any Belville elements before, but I just got my first Belville sets, the 5824 and 5823. The triple arches and the white double pillars with the cutout heart arch will be fun to use. I wish they made bricks in the paler yellow (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.belville)

Re: infrared remote control of LEGO trains using NQC and RCX

(...) I have seen people put the 12V center wheel from a 12V motor there. Not sure how they did it. If you do, you lose the outer cladding (which simulates the truck sideframe members, spring hangers and other stuff). (26 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)
