I went to the show (with no LEGO in tow at all :( )
But I took lots of video (some of which can never be shown in polite company...
ever!)
Anyways, here's my edited video of the various creations that people brought--
http://youtu.be/U0C6ZsYxFV0
As always, Janey and the event organizers put on an awesome show! I have a good
idea of the amount of effort that is needed to put a show such as this together
and make it utterly fantastic, and the efforts were appreciated, not just by me
and my family, but by the public that I spoke with at the show. I heard nothing
but high praise from everyone!
Again, thanks BrickFete for these wonderful shows!

A huge thanks to the people who showed up this weekend for the 2012 Christmas
Toy, Train and Doll Show!
We, as usual, put on a fantastic display for the viewing masses! I uploaded
pics to my Flickr account--
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/sets/72157632051675804/
Thanks to Jeff, Kevin, Derek, Janey, Oliver, Calum, Bill and Keith! ('Specially
Jeff for bringing so much stuff for display!)
Chris, Abby and Robert showed up as well to help!
This was the first show in, well, forever, where I didn't bring much to display,
and I really enjoyed helping others with their display setups and teardowns. I
also got to hang out and talk with everyone, though again, not nearly enuf time
to do that sort of thing.
It was a fantastic display from all of you. Many people commented about our
area. The new table cloths from OBB are completely appreciated in making our
area look professional.
As an administrative note, ee all agreed that this will be the last '1 day'
display we will do because of the time intensive set up and take down. Going
forward, we will do shows that span at least the weekend :)
All the wonderful builders in OBB, thanks again for your work!
See you at the next show!

Hello World!
I know with weather and other events going on right now, the last thought on
anyone's mind is THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN SHOW!!! :):):)...
But it's just around the corner!!
Yes, it's time again for us to hang out, to talk about all things LEGO, maybe
make fun of Dave's beard... (it is MOvember, after all...)
Down to the nitty gritty--
The public show time is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday only. There is no
public show on Saturday.
We can set up our area on Saturday starting at noon, and Sunday starting at 7
a.m. I will be there the whole time so if you have questions or need anyhting,
reach out to me.
I will need a list of names in order to get you passes to get into the show. I
have 'Da Regulars' already on the list but it'll be nice to hear from you so
drop me a line--text/e-mail/phone call/tweet/whatever...
If at all possible, I need to also know how much table space you will require to
display your MOC. This is to have an idea how we would set up our area.
As always, love seeing everyone at the show, and it's always lots of fun
Oh, the addy (for those not in the know and want to show)--
Hall 3
The International Centre
6900 Airport Rd.
Mississauga, ON
Just put in your GPS and come on down!

Hello all enthusiastic OBB peeps! It is that time, once again, to descend onto
the GTA right before Christmas and display our stuff!!
There has been a little confusion regarding the date(s) of the event. Well, I
went right to the source (Doug) and here's what we need to know as exhibitors--
The public show time is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday only. There is no
public show on Saturday.
The good bit is that we can start setting up on Saturday at 12 p.m. If you can't
make it on Saturday to set up your stuff, you can bring it Sunday after 7 a.m.
BUT BEFORE 10 a.m. (that's when the public come in and it'll be a zoo to set up
then)
I'd like a general 'heads up' on what you want to display so I can have some
sort of 'organized chaos' for the show. We will have a 40 by 20 foot area to
fill in, and I know that we'll offer the public folks a fantastic display!
At the very minimum, please let me know how big your display MOC is so I can
allocate the tables/display area.
If you have any questions or concerns, drop me a line here, or e-mail, or
BrickFete, or at dinner, or however you wish--love to hear from ya!
Looking forward to November!

So...
Haven't quite caught up on my sleep, but that's okay!
It was a great show!
(see some pics
here--http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/sets/72157628058893061/)
I really need to thank everyone who showed up! You guys made the display
fantastic! I heard so many great things from the visitors and the organizers!
Thanks to Isaac (and his dad), Nick, Joel, Kevin, Janey, Iain, Bill, Oliver,
Jeff, Derek, and Chris--first, you guys make it easy to run an event like
this--you show up! And you help, and you talk with people...
I didn't get too much of a chance to sit down and catch up (as usual), but I
really appreciate the efforts you guys made on behalf of our presentation.
As well, once again Janey covers all the stuff I forget every time! Thanks
Janey!
If anyone wlse posts pictures to whatever image hosting site they're using,
please post links to this thread! (or e-mail me and I'll post the links!)
We're looking into expanding into other venues at this time so we'll be able to
get together for these type of shows more often.
Again, thanks to everyone!

(A little late...)
Hello everyone!
It's that time again when I procrastinated just a little too much regarding my
responsibilities to all of you in the LEGO building world!!
For that, I apologize.
The good bit is that I just got off the phone with the Christmas Train show
organizers and they are lookign forward to our display this year!
I've asked for additional space because I've been led to believe that we'll have
more people displaying this year!
So with much further ado, here's the info--
Toronto Christmas Train Show
November 19th and 20th, 2011
International Center, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, Ontario
Hall 3
Open hours are 11 to 4 on Saturday, and from 10 until 3 on Sunday
Unloading/setting up will take place after 7 a.m. on Saturday.
WHat I will need from you--
Your name (and any helpers you may have)
How much table/display space you will need
If you require any electricity for your display
Please e-mail me--
dkoudys AT shaw DOT ca
Pass this along to anyone who may be interested.
I'll be posting to the Brickfete website, but feel free to post elsewhere.
Looking forward to seeing you in November!

my sister is a life coach and writes an inspiring blog, true bliss coach, mostly
about changing your life through simple steps and appreciating the life youve
got. her newest subject is a brand new afol, my 80-year-mother, who has just
started to put some bricks together. she has always been fascinated by the brick
and loves to look at what the community can put together, she and my sister are
my biggest cheerleaders.
i decided to bring her a set to put together this summer. she took to it like a
duck to water, and ive brought more than one set over. shes absolutely
thrilled to show off her handiwork to family and friends. one day i might
convince her to take them apart and try a moc but for now, shes just happy
following instructions.

lol, I was just going thru these pictures on flickr when this email came in.
It is great that you and others got pics up and I will be looking for more over
the coming weeks.
Dave, it is especially nice to see the free build outside as I saw none of it.
I did get video of the displays inside which I shared with family today.
As soon as I get a chance I will burn a copy and mail it up to Janey so you can
see things in motion including most of Dirty Brickster.
No doubt replays of some of those awesome moves there will have you prepared for
next year.
The show was such a good time thanks so much everyone.
It really was so great to meet so many wonderful people. Lego fans and their
support staff alike.

Brickfete was fantastic! I'm still pumped and haven't come down from that high!
The 4 days flew by waaay too quickly!
So here's some things--
First, pics--
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/collections/72157627335538192/
I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted, but lack of time and energy. The
good bit is there were lots of photo-bugs there and I'm sure more pics'll show
up.
Second, the public day--
Fantastic! I was out in the free build area for the most part of the day and aw
kids and adults just building and playing. Some folks stayed a few minutes
whilst some were there for hours. I find nothing brings all ages and all
everything else together like big bins o' lego.
Third, the events--
I only partook in Dirty Brickster (thanks Jen!). OMG!!! That was exceptionally
fun! I watched (some) of the other events and those that partook thoroughly
enjoyed (from what I could see)
fourth, the builds--
I walked around and was blown away by the extremely high quality MOCs present.
From the huge twin towers to the small mosaics--it was very apparent that love
and committment to the hobby went into them all
saving he best to last-- the people--
Once again hanging with fellow fans of the brick is great. Doing it at a fest
is better. Having almost all my close LEGO friends at one spot for 4
DAYS--priceless!!!!
Thanks Jim for being there and putting up with us 'fanboys' Abner, Steve and
the rest of the US contingent for being Canadian for 4 days and using 'funny
money'
The QueLUG fans (that, up to this weekend I had no clue about) thanks for coming
and making the event so much more fun! Marc--we'll hang out more for sure!
I'm forgertting a great many pepole here, but i'm still catching up on sleep
Jen and Jeff, thanks for remainging the steadfast friends that I've always had.
It's more appreciated than you can know.
Chris, the strong back of Brickfete 2011--you did so much for the show, but you
did so much for me personally--thanks
And Janey--you rock girl! I can't say more without getting misty eyed so I'll leave it there.
To all the participants, thanks for being there and putting up with so many
'Daveisms' I loved beingf with all of you. I want to do more with you.
Here's looking at Brickfete 2012

The only defeat that you will suffer day is the agony of the long walk of shame.
My seceret weapon this time is that you will need to build 3 bots, and your
time is running out.
Im done.

My hope is to actually get all my WIPs or POCs in the layout.
Theres the Lifelites--
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/sets/72157624393783413/
The aforementioned engineering bay--
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/sets/72157624469290835/
The new space station--

And my shuttle transfer robot arm (which doesnt have any good pics on Flickr,
but there are a few YouTube vids--no access from work so cant post the
links...)
And I have to revamp the big crater--its been through much over the past bunch
of shows and is really looking beat up
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/4815062007/in/set-72157624551572338
thats 5 major builds to complete and just over a month to do them. Right now
my priority is flash over function--moving and programming bits are going to be
regulated to the back burner...
Thatll leave surprises for future shows! :)
At this point the only thing that I can guarantee will be functional is the
repair bay--cause thats always worked for every show. Surprising actually.
Repair bay--
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sparky1701/4819184534/in/set-72157624435110307
When I became (re)interested in CS, I started a (very vague) plan as to where I
wanted to go with it. All my WIPs, all my POCs, were kinda leading to the
layout that should be at Brickfete.
My problem right now is that I can see the finish line, and now Im rushing a
bit... Too much to do and not enuf time. Just looking at the list above, I
know I wont be able to complete the whole list. So Ill just make it look
