These are so very very very cool! I can't wait till I have a MOC I can use
these ideas on.
I. I like this window alot. I've seen the SNOT fences used that way before,
but I've never seen a fence slipped inside an arch like that. It REALLY makes
the window for me. I will most definately be using this idea in the future.
II. I like this window too. Unfortunately, I don't own any of the wing pieces,
so building it would be a little tough for me ;)
III. This is my favorite. Like #II, I love how you were able to do both the
front and the back side of the design in a very appealing way. The only
drawback I see are the studs under the window on the inside.
I realize that there's currently no room for a tile in there with the way you
have it attached, but would it be possible to slip something within the front
wall behind a buttress to attach the grate where a tile could be placed under
it? (Did that make any sense?) Or is there simply no room for tiles and the
window?
Great work! I'll be stealing... borrowing the two designs in the future. My
next castle will be very slick.

Hello Anthony Sava,
thanks for your compliments!
I think i've seen this solution before on some pirate ship moc,
and kept it in mind, well, till now I suppose.

You are right on this. I thought of fixing it with replacing the brick
with two plates and one tile, but I haven't checked how it looks.
I'll try today and make a picture of it.

I think I've got the picture (and hope to make one ;-).

Thou shalt borrow! And know that the one of whom you will borrow,
will be very proud onthis action.

Hello Anthony,
you pointed to the studs that still could be seen at the back.
It was a little backdraw in the whole concept
for which I couldn't find a solution.
But a good night rest can change a lot :)
In this picture I've tried to solve the 'stud-problem',
making the complete section as slick as it can be:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Debarg/Windows/latticewindows022.jpg
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Debarg/Windows/latticewindows023.jpg
The dark gray 1 x 10 brick is now replaced by
one layer of 1x10 brown tiles.
Both at the top as on the lower side of the 8x8 lattice frame
I've put brackets that are finished with a brown 1x8 tile.
In this way you can just put the window
in the wall. It's easy and sturdy enough
(won't fall out, unless you push).
So, thanks to you Anthony who pushed my creativity a little bit further ;-)
And by the way,
in my earlier texts I didn't mention that the wall idea of using the
decorated wall brick (2454pb01) in front of the 1x6x5 wall piece,
came to mind when I didn't know what to do with all the 1x6x5 pieces
I had coming from the Slytherin set (3754pb02).
Now the 1x2x5 completely covers the Slytherin motive.
See this picture:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Debarg/Windows/latticewindows018.jpg
(deeplink)
What remains is: now I've got to find a way of using all my 3754pb03 bricks,
but how do you fill an open mouth of a snake :)
Best regards

Hey Daan,
These are wonderful (also Marc and Erik). I'm going to have to incorporate a
stained glass window into my next MOC. I just got a bunch of 1x4 lattice fences
at Pick-a-Brick and was wondering what I was going to do with them. Now I know.
Thanks! I also never reallized that fence could slip inside the arch like that,
so I'll try to incorporate that as well.

Very interesting.
I am working on somthing like this myself, and got an amazing result using
something like that - fences, and head light holders. For me that seems to be
the best solution. I have 2 versions of my windows, one is ready, while the
other needs some finish.
I hope to have some pictures soon.

Here are 2 pictures:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=948919
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=948920
They are almost the same as Erik Amzallag did (see other message in thread),
mine is using an arch, and head light holders give the 1/5 offset I need.
They are for a project not yet released, normally I would not public pictures
like this.
The other window will not be published until the model is ready.

Hello Sonnich,
thanks for sharing your pictures and building ideas!
I like the double cross in the windows
(beside any church association,
one can easaliy imagine it to be some kind of heraldic weapon).
I'll have to look into your idea of building a window.
Right now I can't valuate the pro's and/or cons.
You will have to finish your project soon,
otherwise the teaser of the other picture/window takes too much time :-)
Best regards

I hope this year. Right it depends on some bricks I need, just ordered something
from Bricklink, but I'll need more (<- looking for trades please!)

Hi Folks,
Good to see such discussion, but.....can ths please be taken out of .space and
FUT to build.arch as a few others have already suggested?
Not that we're burning up the 'net in here these days with our traffic volume
lately :/
Thanks gents,
