Cool! I love those minifig-perspective shots, like the Shogun talking to his
army...
Looks like you've got a massive fortress back there!

I don't have access to a scanner, these were done w/ a Sony Mavica...I just
bought a similar model w/ some xtra special effects...these pics were done
w/ a similar camera...incidentally...they have turned out better than my
recent ones...

HOLY COW!!! Those are awesome customs, man! =) I use the red plumes on the
side of the helmet like that for my main Fright Knight warrior, I like how
they look on the black Samurai helmet. Your site ROCKS! =)

ok so its not the big CW update that many people are waiting for and working
on, but it's the best I can do..
I updated my webpage story...no stuctural pics... you will have to wait for
those...so will I = )
I am trying to design my fortress so that I can capture interior, as well as
exterior, shots...
for lack of a better description, this update is an experiment w/ camera
placement, story telling, and minifig design...
Any comments are appreciated = )

Very nice! I really like those adventurer backpacks, and yours
is really put to good use.
I also discovered that the silver sword fits into the slit in
the cape quite well, so it looks like broadsword slung across one's back.
I have a figure that's basically the Darth Maul minifig with a red
transparent 1x1 cylinder in place of the head and the sword slung
through that way...
Chris
P.S. I agree that the Ninja stuff is cool, and wish there were more NinjaWorld
things going on. Been thinking about an East meets West deal too (who
needs Commodore Perry, anyhow?)

I never thought to try the sword in the cape thing...very good idea...I
learn something ew everyday = )
I have been thinking of different ways to do the over the shoulder sword
scabberd thing...May I use your suggestion...it would fit well with an idea
for a story I have...The ninja hood is great...but not for ths character I
am developing...

Cool, I'm going to have the flashback thing too. The b&w (er, sepia) works
well. I think I'll use that too.

I recently acquired some Kabaya Ninja sets, as well as other Lego Ninja
theme sets...I am sorry Lego discontinued making these sets in the USA, so I
am trying to develop original designs from the sets Lego made..
here is the beginning of my story...It is a fictional/fantasy/sci-fi account
of a wandering samurai archer...please forgive some of the culturally
inaccurate names...my intent was not to offend but give names to some
individaul figures...I will update this site every couple of weeks or so...

But a successful one: a really ingenious use of existing standard parts in
new combinations. Someone recently suggested TLG do a Roman theme. If they
do, they'd better watch out, because the barbarians are definitely ready for
primetime before there are even gates for them to be outside of.
And I agree with Chris: Brickbay sellers with heavy inventories of tiny-peg
tires, and their descendants unto the seventh generation, will undoubtedly
bless your name ;-)

*WOW*, John!
You use the minifig-head stud in *awesome* ways that I had never thought of
since I turned into an "AFOL"... now that I see this I remember all the flower-
people I used to make as a kid... gee. Time to wake up that right side of the

the use of tires. Extra cool!

Very cool! As others have commented, the use of tires is pretty
original...
But I really wanted to comment on the chrome headlights. They make me
think
of the barbar's song from Man of La Mancha:
DON QUIXOTE: spoken
Hand it over!
BARBER: spoken
But this is nothing but a shaving basin!
DON QUIXOTE: spoken
Shaving basin!! Dost not know what this really is?
sung
Now Golden Helmet of Mambrino,
with so illustrious a past...
too long hast thou been lost to glory,
Th'art reunited now at last.
Golden Helmet of Mambrino,
there can be no hat like thee.
thee and I now, 'ere I die, now
will make golden history.

P.S. One of my favorite Hebrew songs, "It's all for you", is a sort-of
dialogue between Don Quixote and a young girl, who might be Dulcinea... in the
chorus, the girl says: "oh, Don Quixote, don't be so innocent / in the world,
kiddo, there's no place for simple dreamers"... boy, is she wrong... but I
love the song nonetheless. ;-)

Thank you for the compliment...
Actually, when I first saw the Lego SW sets, I was very into the Ninja theme
(still am = ) and all I thought of when I saw many of the figs was Japanese
peasants and new Samurai/Ninja figs (especially qui gonn, jarjar, Maul)

Cool idea...
Ever since I saw craigo's Amidala, using the red Ninja mask for the hand
maidens, I have wanted to use the Ninja mask to make a mysterious lady
character. I don't have the appropriate female torsos....lol
> http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/legohead/castle-minifigs/ninja_empress.jpg
I like this one alot...
(it seems other builder's are better than I at designing female figs )
I see the islander hairpiece as Asain hair is catching on...
The capes have a comic book/video game look...very imperial and more
intimidatig than the average fig = )
Gloves are a subtle touch I generally forget.

I would love a Roman theme...heck I figured Lego would have done it in the
80's...all the elements were there for great chariots, aquaducts, and other
Romanesque buildings.
I had hoped that Lego was going to expand the "castle-themes of the world"
mindset with a Chinese variant to include a forbidden city and great wall or
at least Mongol hordes. I figured incorrectly. I had fostered hope of
future expansions into India and Egypt...ahhh....still waiting while creating...

This is an angle I hadn't considered...lol.
Generally, I was being selfish, trying to use up parts that were sitting
around in storage. If I was truly creative, I could find better uses for at
least a dozen parts and turn my stockpile into big dollars...lol
Well, I hope tire sales on Brickbay are Brisk!
The tire idea was a combination of 2 ideas....
1. Lately, while I was catching up on Lugnet posts, I noticed a few people
taking useless/despised/overspeicalized parts and designing creations
emplyoing those elements in new ways. I was experiencing a little
"builder's block", so I decided to get back to the basics. I was sorting a
big pile of black parts from an old purchase and I decided to take a break
and experiment.
2. I ran across an old idea book, the Yellow one (I forget the number, but
I belive it's from the early seventies) In this old idea book, most of the
people are built out of bricks or are large with "bendy-arms". One of
featured creations was a "wedding-scene" and the friar had an old style tire
on top of his head. I hadn't noticed it all those years ago...

well, no matter how big your collection is....there are at least 2 universal
truths:
1. you never have enough
2. you always have too many wheels
I like the Lego capes and I wish they wee more commonly available in all
colors...throughout sci-fi, fantasy and literature, in general ...robes and
hoods are pivotal costumes for creating mystery, hiding weapons, and keeping
warm
= )

I have a makshift roman army that I began after seeing Gladiator. The figs
have th black "dragon" helm (tho the silver ones wloud work much much
better), the chain mail black monarchs torso. and the commanders have the
ninja armor. they are equipted with a broad sword or spear and a large
dagon shield (tho if the gungan sheild came in d. grey they would have that)
If you look at them from the front they look rather roman . . .of course in
profile they don't (TLC could start with the dragon helm and make a good
roman helm design)
I would love a roman theme but I doubt it would havemass appeal.

I wish I could get my hands on more of the Gugan shields easily...it would
br great if they had it in dark gray and the design in black or hunter green

I think that the tear drop shields and Dragon helmets are a reasonable
substitution for now (coming from a guy who is using tires, capes, and
headlights for turbans, tunics, and tukes)

On the contrary, I think the Greek and Roman empires are more enduring and
would have much greater appeal than Ninja (which I like), Fright Knights
<cough>, or Knights Kingdom (Castle-Lite, less filling 1 calorie creations).
Much of the Euro-based Castles ad fuedalism was an outgrowth of the Roman
empire (and the collapse there of)
