| Hi everyone,
My first new castle moc in a long time is my City Gate.
It features a stone base with two large doors. The doors can be secured by an
iron chain. A stair in the stone base leads to the tudor second floor. The
stair landing has a window to shoot at intruders.
The upper tudor level has a fireplace, two weapons racks, a bookshelf, a table,
chairs, and even a wall mirror.
I also made a haycart with the new huge wheels. The cardinal's guard
(musketeer) collects a toll from the peasant to enter the city. A traveling
priest walks out of the city. Two fully armored watchmen guard the gate.

Please let me know what you think of my moc. I am also seriously considering
making this moc into my second custom set.
Thanks,

Seriously Ben, this thing rocks!
I admire the way you use the walls that deeply remind me of the type used in
6061 Siege Tower and other classic LegoLand
Castle sets. The guardhouse is, well, how can I say, quaint and cozy ;). Cool
way to keep out intruders, that window is. Nice minifig and cart details too.
In short, this is an excellent creation and IMO, I would make this a custom set.
See you!

Thanks again. I have been trying to add more interior details and try a few
unique things. I enjoyed making the cart and figs too :)

to see it in the context of some more buildings.

Thanks Pawel. I probably will not get time to photograph it by other medieval
tudor sets, since I do not have any built right now and I am slightly busy. But
the walls are the same height as the cc standard. So it should be similar to
the height of James Stacey's new buildings.

Ben.. this is good stuff! I love the simplicity of the building, coupled with
the great internal details!! This is makes this creation so good.. everything
that Lego castle MOCs should be - elegant clarity combined with amazing details!

I'm with Lenny.
Also I just like Tan. It really works for me. Also that crofter's cart is really
spiffy. How sturdy is it?

I agree. The tan works really well for the timber frame. Light yellow would
probably look good too.

Thanks. The cart is very sturdy. The ladders are on clip hinges - so you can
adjust the cart profile. The only weak point is the turntable connection to the
underside of the 4 x 8 plate. It is still pretty strong. Having another
turntable and plate under the hitching would make it very strong, but then the
underside of the cart would be too deep. Perhaps I should try the other type of
hitching/turntable combination.

Thanks Lenny! My moc's tend to have a lot of order, which is not always a good
thing with medieval buildings. I think that having many details offsets this.
I am glad that you like the details. They were fun to do. Especially the
mirror.

Ben,
This is a superb creation. Well planned and executed. (I pretty much forgot
about the stair until seeing it down the picture list.) I think Lenny nailed it
with "everything that Lego castle MOCs should be - elegant clarity combined with
amazing details!"
I too think the haycart is neat. Looks realistic in the sense that it's not a
rugged polygon.
*cough* MOC Series *cough*

Thanks. I really like the cart too! I designed it very quickly but it all
worked out.

hehe, I wish :)

Ben,
Great work ! Wonderful addition to the 3CS type of building.
It's a great transition building from the walls to the internal town
buildings.

Thanks. I was trying to create something that fits in with the new standard. I
wanted this to be a slightly smaller moc like Jon Furman's creations. In that
way it is a good combination that links new and old. I am happy that you like
the gate and that it worked out well.
