You're assuming 'they' are going to act like a single-minded organism, with
a single vision and plan. LEGO Direct would be very interested in
supplying train parts *right now*, to respond to explicit demand for the
parts. That does not equate to Futura (if that's still the right name for
R&D) having a long-term plan for Trains.
