It is very tall from behind. Initially that side was going up against a
wall, so it wasn't going to matter as much.
Transporting SCLTC layouts is getting easier. We have built crates that hold
fully populated 30 inch wide tables. The crates have adjustable heigh
brackets. We just slide the tables in at home, roll the crates onto a
trailer or into a truck, and reverse the process at shows. The crates also
provide a ready to go workspace at the show, which is handy when setting up
or taking down.
Take down for this show went record quick for us, despite the complications
of the multi-level design. It probably helped that we held a trial fit a few
weeks earlier.

As opposed to the flat layouts of the past, this new club town rests on the side of a hill, rising a total of 80 bricks across the layout! Five loops of track travel through the different layers via tunnels under the mountain, visiting campgrounds, expensive hilltop homes, wineries, mines, a dam, and a busy town.

| Wow, looks great! Very nice job. How tall is the layout on the back side? Did you have any steps or anything so that visitors (mainly short ones) could see the detail on the top? It looks like that would be a real nightmare to transport and set up. (...) (22 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc)
