| | Re: The Future of Trains
|
| (...) [...] (...) Well, I guess at least we now don't have to worry about if or when the 9v line will be discontinued. Like some of you, I am upset. I am upset that LEGO marketed the 9v line so poorly, but I also suspect that in the current (...) (17 years ago, 3-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.trains)

| (...) In May, I made a test (based on your information): (URL) loco (built after set 112-2) pulled 20 two-axle "oldschool" cars. 11 of them had the old wheels with traction teeth, 6 had various spoked wheels (years 1969-1990) and 3 had the (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

| | Re: End of 9V Trains protest layout idea
|
| (...) Hi Bob, that assumption is not perfectly correct. In October 2006 a single 12V engine (powered by 2 motors) has pulled this 100 waggons train. (URL) A few months earlier we have made this attempt with a 9V engine pulling 61 cars. But we had (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

|
| (...) Good question - depending on my former tests, I would guess, that short 4-wheel waggons (like the lightweight barrel waggon from set 2126) with not more than 6 studs distance from wheel block to wheel block offer the lower running resistance. However, we have raised the point before that numerous intangible benefits arise from the 9V Train line. Community (...) (17 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.trains) !

| | Re: Is it possible to run lego trains outdoors?
|
| (...) With 9v track, no way. 9v track does indeed rust if exposed to water over time. If you go with RC track I don't see why you couldn't run it outside but keep in mind that dirt acts as an abrasive so keep the track off the ground or take steps (...) (17 years ago, 14-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

But if you always run on the righthand side, then you'd set the switches to the R exit (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jun-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| | Power pickups (Was: ME Models Metal Rails)
|
| Hi again Eric, Are you going to be offering power pickups? When running RC or PF trains, the track can simply supply the power, since control is delivered thru the RC or PF controllers. This would eliminate the need for batteries. Some track layouts (...) (13 years ago, 24-Apr-11, to lugnet.trains)

| | Brickworld Keynote - Updates on the Future of 9V Trains?

OK, well one really simple, almost trivial thing: you can run the IR train on the same track as the 9V, allowing you to have two trains going around a track in different directions, with just a quick timed siding excursion to let them pass and (...)
