  Re: 12V train early 70th

(...) Yeah, that's no fun, is it. I think what ought to happen when you type "trains" into a top-level search box is that you get back a number of train categories (one encapsulating all, and then one for each of 9v, 4.5v, 12v, and DUPLO trains, (...) To Scott This was not a sale!!! I stated it in your email and I will state it again, look at (URL) stated in the very first line that I might not sell the trains If it was a sale, it would be in the wrong group, all I was doing is a bit of research!   The first competitor to Lego in trains has emerged.

Just a heads up. Sluban of China has just entered the brick train business. Their first locomotive is a Stephenson's Locomotive, one piece with sound box powered by 2 double A batteries. The locomotive is one piece. Track is plastic, rails the same (...) (15 years ago, 26-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: End of 9V train line?!

(...) I _don't think_ it will die. There is some very favorable evidence (stand up you six apostles of Lego trains...) that we may get some of what you mocked up. (at least, I am hoping) As well, now that S@H has instituted delivery in Germany, it (...) (24 years ago, 5-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: train tracks

(...) The curved 12v power tracks that fit in the middle of the rails will not fit on the 9v rails without a little filing. The extra sleepers on the 9v rails cause problems with some plastic bits on the bottom of the 12v 3rd rail. Also, because the (...) (24 years ago, 3-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LEGO 9V Train Communication II

(...) I already did something very close. I reversed engineer the IR protocol of the Power Functions and created a small device that can both send and receive IR commands. The components in this device probably cost around $10-15 (but excluding the (...) (17 years ago, 20-Dec-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: newbie question

(...) As Larry says, the 12V system was not terribly reliable and was really an afterthought to the original 4.5V battery trains. Also it was not compatible with the new 9V stuff that came out in the late 80's with the very cool conducting studs. (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) Last year I built a tram and the power came from a 9V battery box (heavy, the battery are quickly out...), and it is not very recommended to make circulate a tram without control (just on/off) on a circuit with other trains. I realized a (...) (21 years ago, 14-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

I think you've just about said it all Ben, I'll add that 9V rails can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth every couple weeks for optimum performance. -Harvey (22 years ago, 22-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: infrared remote control of LEGO trains using NQC and RCX

First, let me apologize for mistyping NQC as NCQ. Hey Ben! Hope those rumors are true. So if they are going to do something with remote switches and such, will it be similar to DCC or radio/infrared control? I'm guessing some form of remote control. (...) I guess I could be considered "lucky" that I don't have the investment in track and accessories but I cannot even do much more than a really big oval with what I have. (...)   znap bridges for trains
