It is always interesting to read comments, discussion, etc on the hobby from
a completely different perspective. I just wish I had a more reliable and
convinient way of doing the translation. From my few uses, Alta Vista's
http://babel.altavista.com service seems to work well with web pages. But it
does not do as well with the informal tone of message boards, such as
1000steine.

I got back into Lego after discovering Lugnet and after seeing the 4559
Cargo Railway. I always liked the trains as a child. I frequently wrote to
"Susan Williams" trying to get Lego to sell trains in the States. When I was
10 (1980), my parents brought the 1980 Train Catalog
http://www.brickshelf.com/scans/catalogs/1980/c80eutr/index.html
from Europe. In particular, it was page 8
http://www.brickshelf.com/scans/catalogs/1980/c80eutr/c80eutr-08.html
that made me say "wow!" and then I started my pursuit of a Lego train set. I
eventually got a 7720 battery train, but I still really wanted the automated
switches, lights, etc. I liked how you could string the controllers together
like a big keyboard!

I wonder if Todd & Suz could hook a translation service/link into the
newsgroup web interface. That may attract more non-English speaking fans to
the forums. Something like a "click here to translate" button.

And Holger, that Desert Express *is* awesome. Could be the MOC of the Year!
Bryan... from Pennsylvania, USA!

| Hi Bryan, (...) Nice that the transatlantical interchanges on the biggest hobby ever go both ways! Your read 1000steine and it's galleries - I myself read and post on lugnet and have regular updated brickshelf galleries! BTW: Thanks for the nice (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)
