Ben,
Thanks for giving me the whole picture!

I recall your original posting in lugnet.trains about the points issue, so • I
figured the 1000steine forum message I found was part of the larger • "points
& crossings picture."

Early 2001 should prove to be an interesting time for the Train series. I
just hope it goes uphill rather than downhill.

I do enjoy viewing the galleries on 1000steine.de . From your point of • view,
Ben, are the German Lego fans as passionate about the hobby as Americans? • I
would suspect that it is about even, but I imagine there are more Train • fans
in Germany.

Bryan

When I first read the posting that points were being discontinued I checked
http://shop.lego.com to see if they had any and the web site reported they
were on back order until February.  I was looking for at least one if not
two more sets of points and since I was headed to Orlando recently, I
thought I would check the LIC.  They still had a few sets (for $18 no less)
so I bought two.  Shortly there after I got an e-mail from my sister looking
for LEGO track as S@H and the VA Outlet (near where she lives) were both out
and wouldn't have any back in stock anytime soon.  I told her that the LIC
had some and even called to verify (points were sold out by this time) that
they had some stock.

It appears that LEGO has a track shortage on their hands for some reason.
Could be due to poor production planning or due to pending changes in the
train line.

(...) I will confirm this. I have it on very good authority that it's true. No idea why. Speculation might be fun but not useful (unlike the other day when I sparked some informed reasoning about production volumes, which I had a very good reason (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)
