Hi Paul,
I have not yet built a Thatcher Perkins in other colors, but I was mulling it
over. I have built a coal tender and old style passenger car in the 1860's style
to the Thatcher Perkins scale (using small spoked wheels), but haven't yet built
any other cars. I need to find a book with detailed pictures of historic western
style train cars before I continue. It is funny how even though I am not a LEGO
Train buff, I find the Thatcher Perkins #396 is my all time favorite LEGO model.
Perhaps it's because of the historic style (and part of western lore) more than
the fact that it is part of a train.
