I hope that Pirates do come back, and the Islanders.  I don't mind slight
juniorization (the armoured car from the 6566 Bank is pretty cool, IMO), but I
just hope they don't sport the absolutley hideous AGES 5 - 8 logo. (I HATE
THAT!)

I've seen examples of feedback from RTL on issues like this.  When pirates
went away, there was a lot of talk on RTL about pirates not going away
forever.  I guess there were several very good sources (I don't remember
which, but it was something like s@h people or lego customer service) that
pirates were not gone forever.  They (the all knowing beings, whoever they
are) said that the pirate theme was one of the most popular and best selling
themes ever and that it would be back in a couple-three years.  While 2001
seems to match that time schedule, there was a lot of speculation on RTL that
the pirate theme would be severely juniorized.  That time (circa 1997) was the
Dark Time when the town theme was dessimated, so there was a lot of
pessimism.  I think, while we're nowhere near recovering from the blight of
juniorization, things are certainly looking better than they were then.  I
would definitly like to know what makes this person think that the new pirate
theme will be juniorized.  I suspect, though, that this person was lurking in
RTL at that time and remembers all of the pessimistic posts about pirate
juniorization.  I've seen several examples of this.  I've questioned store
employees/managers as well as the lego reps that fill the shelves at TRU.  And
on more than one occaision, they've repeated information virbatim, sometimes
little more than speculation, that was circulating on RTL at the time.  I'm
speculating, but I havn't heard anything since then to indicate that any of
the pirate sets would be further juniorized.  The pirate sets were already
light on pieces since they made use of castle wall pieces and the hull
sections.  Here's to hoping they're wrong.

Maybe TLG is early enough in the design process for the new pirate sets so
that if we all complain, in unison, in a very loud volume, they may be willing
to avoid juniorization in the new pirate sets.

BTW, TLG, could we please have brown ship hulls again?

I heard a rumor from a store owner that Pirates was coming back. They
thought that it was going to be juniorized. If so I hope Lego has had a
change of heart.

I would consider the source to be fairly reliable.

Does anyone know (or care to guess) the new subthemes for 2001?
