It's no short cirquit, but an overheated regulator, who reduces the output
voltage with increasing heath.
Using a larger heathsink on the regulator can reduce this problem.
The used regulator 'chip' is a LM317T, capable to deliver 1.5 Amp. maximum, but
the transformer can't deliver this (maximum 0.7 Amp. - 10 volts / 7VA).
Using a transformer with a higher Amp. rate ( example 1.5A /10 volts)reduce
the problem of slowing down when running more than one train motor.
Note also that the used rectifiers are rated at 1 Amp. (1N4001 ... 1N4007)
you have to let it cool off and it works again.

| (...) Yes. (...) It varies. 3225 comes without track or a regulator. 4565 comes without a regulator but with track. 4559 comes with both. 4561 comes with both. There is a version (europe only, I think) of 4561, numbered 4560, that comes without a (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)
