Re: MOC: Pacific Coast Shay #2

(...) Oh my, that is one fine looking locomotive & tender. Great job! I'd love to see and hear it run - with all those gears it must make a great sound. Now, to build a couple flat cars hauling logs behind it, right? <grin> JohnG, GMLTC (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: MOC: Pacific Coast Shay #2

(...) LOL technical bits beyond you? After you just (URL) motorised an entire fairground>???? And thanks for your help on this MOC, it is much appreciated. ROSCO (20 years ago, 24-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

LOWLUG display at Rail2004 (Leiden, the Netherlands)

LOWLUG will be present at Rail 2004, one of Europe's leading model railway exhibits, from november 12 to 14. The main display is a 9 x 4 meter train layout, modelled after several parts of the Netherlands with Dutch trains running on two large (...) (20 years ago, 24-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains)

  ParLUGment display at Railfair 27

I have finally named and uploaded all my decent pictures of ParLUGments's second Train layout in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, at Railfair 27. We doubled out layout size from last year, and almost tripled our participant count. A great time was had by (...) (20 years ago, 24-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.parlugment, lugnet.trains, FTX) !

Re: MOC: Pacific Coast Shay #2

(...) Ross, that is one extremely fine looking engine. Nice done!!! The overall shape is pleasing and true to form. I am especially fond of the curve "walls" on the tender. I think that the tan and black is a great combo and it's nice to see you add (...) (20 years ago, 24-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  MOC: Pacific Coast Shay #2

(URL) Enjoy! ROSCO (20 years ago, 24-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !!

  Re: Magnetic sensor

(...) OK, I ordered two but does anyone already own one that could comment on its use? Uses I could see would be a decoupler or crossing arms. With enough of them spaced throughout the layout (hooked in series with resistors to increase sensor (...) (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Re: Part search

(...) Looks interesting, be sure to post to .trains when you have done. Why did you pick on a Brazilian loco? Thats a really good site. tim (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad.mlcad, lugnet.trains)

  Magnetic sensor

I was reading posts in RTL and found one about a LEGO robotics summer camp selling a bunch of their stuff. They have a nice little magnetic field sensor on sale: (URL) Putting one of these under a track could easily sense when a train was passing (...)   ParLUGment display at Railfair 27

Hi all, Here are my pictures (when moderated) from our display at Railfair 27 last weekend: (URL) show itself was a blast, the layout was 25' x 16' and we had over 16 people helping out. A few other people from our group have also posted pictures (...) (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.parlugment, lugnet.trains)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) You can get 3 colour LEDs that are designed to work that way. Not sure, but think they are orange as 3rd colour though. (...) Yes it can, motor outputs are reversing. So, using any stationary decoder that can power reversing switch machines (...) (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Hi Horst, that's a great picture. Yeah, that's what I've been striving for, a layout of roughly that complexity and automation, but without nearly as many wires. The remote controllers (along the bottom of the picture) being replaced by the (...) (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  10133 BNSF Locomotive Ship date?

(...) I meant to post this in trains. -Juan (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Yes, otherwise you could only run a DCC loco in one direction. ROSCO (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) I was thinking of something similar. Using 2 outputs you could control a 3 lead Bicolor LED. Or with a small NAND gate as well, you could use the 2 lead style LED that you mention. If you don't mind the LED always being on it only takes one (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Could you use a "bi-color" LED this way? Polarity one way, light is red. Polarity the other way, light is green. Polarity alternating, yellow! (Ok, that last part is probably a pipe-dream... <grin>) Can DCC output a voltage with either (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

Hi everybody, (...) Correct. 7860 is the set number. A quick Google search turned up mostly auctions and sales pages, no useful description of this set, so here go some basics for the interested ... Both the red and green light are controlled (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Thanks, Mat! (...) There are 5 wires for the lights. The common is positive voltage with respect to the 4 output wires. Each light is independently controllable, you could even blink them to simulate certain real world signal conditions. (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Thank you, John! (...) Each of the lights is independently controllable. You can even instruct the DCC controller to blink the lights in various patterns. I'll be working on software to provide an interlock so that only the red or green can be (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: DCC Controlled Signal

(...) Thanks, Larry! (...) Presently, I don't have any plans to do so. These actually took more time to create than I'd care to admit! However, much of the time was spent working out the construction details for the prototype. I want to build (...) (20 years ago, 21-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)
