you can achieve the desired 2,5 stud offset, by putting two Plates 1 x 1 Round under the part (one in the hole at one of the ends and the other right next to it) Place it in such a way that the round tiles fit centered between the 4 studs on the recessed middle part of a 9V trainwheel. The studless middle of “Technic Rotor 2 Blade with 2 Studs” allows you to place the Train Bogie Plate on top (The edge of the Bogie Plate would interfere with a stud if you use one of the “1 stud whide” Technic Plates)

With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

You mean like this, very clever, you’ve done this before, haven’t you! I wondered about the strength at first but the fact that the stud on top of the “Technic Rotor 2 Blade with 2 Studs” meshes with the bottom of the bogie plate just adds that extra rigidity.

Tim, I like these little renderings you’ve been working up VERY much. I hope I can convince you to make up an FTX page with all of them in it, (which I would then link to from the header) (1) because it’s good stuff, good stuff indeed. The use of transparent for most of the parts really helps drive home what’s key about the plan.

One question I had about this particular one, I’m not seeing the need for the red 4 stud link, I didn’t think this application required that much distance from the truck to the coupler. why not mount the coupler directly on the embedded rotor blade?

1 - or maybe there’s an ILTCO article for the library there somewhere? Or a presentation on truck design techniques for BrickFest PDX or DC sometime in 2004?

(...) I got the impression that that was what he was aming for, I wasn't certain that it would work tho as the coupling could just swing any which way. You could mount the coupling straight on the rotor arm but it wouldn't be at Lego™ standard (...) (21 years ago, 28-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
